Terminal Class pass rate

I've seen that same complaint as well but it seems like if it was that simple wouldn't they adjust the scoring or something simple like that? Realize that they are saying the correct things and the system just isnt acknowledging it...?

The simulator has always had voice recognition issues. You either run with it and fix the problem or the sim operator does. That should not be a reason why a bunch of people fail.

Just to add to the known Simulator issues, when I was on my last Ground PA last year, for some reason the pilots werent transmitting any audio. They could take my instructions but not say anything back. They ended up rebooting the system twice and still had issue, so I had to basically yell to the RPO and wait for him to respond.

Remember that time the FAA spent millions developing a new hiring system and AT-SA test to screen out the 'best' qualified candidates, which would increase the success rate at the Academy and eventually their Facility? Good times...

Enroute's not having these new problems as far as anyone knows right? Still pretty normal pass rates on that end. Something seems to be up with terminal specifically. Wouldn't knock the whole hiring process (at least for this), considering the people going through these classes took the time-tested AT-SAT and not the new AT-SA (if I'm not mistaken we're still processing trainees from the 2015 bid, right?).

Yeah, My class started on 4/19 and even we have someone from the 2015 Bid, so I'd guess these classes that are finishing now are mostly made up of 2015 people.

Enroute has been historically bad since the start of 2017 as well. You're correct on the AT-SA portion, but everyone there did pass the 'BQ', which they viewed as a groundbreaking solution to figure out what traits produce great air traffic controllers. I'll never get it, but I'd love to be able to see the data breakdown past vs present. It could simply be that prior experience new hires no longer attend the academy and that has brought the collective average down...who knows...

I didn't even think of this. My class was roughly 13/18 prior exp back in 2011 and I think we passed 17/18. And all of our direct hires are doing pretty well in training.

I suspect that has been the case. I'll be honest, had I gone to Academy I am not sure I would have made it. The field is where it is at, hands on, shoulder to shoulder with trainers learning the intricacies and nuances. To me that is how I have always learned, not by sitting in a classroom wearing business casual and playing hypothetical on the .65 with QA. Give me the sand and I will build the castle, don't just put me in the box without sand.

That honestly sounds better than having to deal with the voice rec.

The nice part was there werent any readback errors. The sucky part was the RPO was soft spoken and the instructor that was doung the local portion was having issues...

4/10 passed with 2 failing basics according to reddit.

one resigned during basics (he realized this job wasn't his calling) and the other was fired during table tops because he was lazy and didn't give a crap about the job. as for my 6 classmates that didn't pass the evals, their nerves got the best of them. best advice I could give is when your sitting in front of the door waiting for QA to call you in, do some push-ups or something to get your nerves under control.

Wow, seriously? How did that go down?

Andy came in, told dude grab your stuff and follow me. Then the rest of us went outside to watch security haul his a$$ away then celebrated. When you constantly say this job is your plan b cause all you really want to do is join the military and drive tankers, you don't deserve to be there. Good riddance
