When do benefits kick in while in the academy? I have read people making TSP contributions and such, but do not remember if/when academy attendees become eligible for benefits. Anyone know?

You’re eligible for full TSP/health/dental/life insurance etc. benefits day 1 at the Academy. HR will come in and explain everything first thing.
Thanks. I assumed this but wanted some definitive answer because my wife has to redo her annual insurance stuff at work. Just wanted to make sure I was right in telling her to take me off everything.

Tell your wife to take you off her insurance, tell her to take herself off her insurance, tell her to quit her job and move to OKC while you're at the Academy, max your TSP, get FEP Blue family, dental, vision, the works, make sure you click on the "Tax Exempt" checkbox on Employee Express, get the meal plan at Kim's Place, go to the Yukon Bar every night and open up a rolling tab for all your classmates, go to that one bar in Bricktown with the $1 breathalyzer test and see how high you can blow after class every night, eat nothing but lobster risotto from Mickey Mantles, cross your fingers and hope you pass your sims. When anyone questions your motives, tell them to eat your ass and suck the Slate Book cuz you're on an admin schedule and nobody can touch your Sat/Sun RDOs.

Solid Advice. I quit my job when I got my TOL, back in 12/2018. Wanted to be all in on the life.
