ATSA Compilation

So on ATCprep, I don't see the point of practicing on Hard if it's giving numbers over 1-9, but the real exam doesn't. If anything it'll get your mind in the wrong setup. Same for the Value Assignment and Relations portion. What's the max variables and range on the actual exam?

As for the radar part. I'm assuming it's unknown if getting answers wrong counts against you, and thus whether or not it's a viable strat to guess every time.

No point practicing more than 1 to 9 and 1 to 4 for differences and relations

It's just a matter of do you care to see a crappy overall percentage score which doesnt meant jack squat

That's what I thought. And for the spacial relation part. I believe on the real exam, the eye is ON the plane's tip, and not floating randomly?

I see. Hmmm. Does anyone know for sure if the Relations part has A, B, C, and D? 4 variables?

The radar seems fairly easy on the ATSAprep, but apparently it's much quicker on the real thing. It seems that everyone that got a TOL has said they spent time practicing during the exam.

There are no D variables on the test

(1) For the eye big/small plane test. On the prep, after each yes/no response, it pauses and you have to click a key to resume. Is that how it is on the real thing, or it just goes right to the next one?

(2) For the Radar Game How many tasks are there? I'm assuming more than 30? More importantly, does it pause between each "task" like on the prep, or it's just one after another blitz. My laptop is for sure lagging, but at minimum, there seemed to be like a 3-second pause between the next task wave Did ya'll have planes that crashed literally within half an inch of entering the radar screen edge, or exiting? Lastly, this one I don't know if anyone knows or it's just guessing. Does anyone know how we get counted against for deleting a plane that was NOT going to crash? I'm assuming it's maybe weighed less harsh than crashing.

Just took mine today.

1. It doesn't pause, and there isn't anything to click like in the prep to resume. You have to click "+" for Yes and "Enter" for No (on the number pad). I practiced on the prep with clicking as well but I practiced on the test itself to get used to it. But as soon as you click, maybe 2 seconds and the next one pops up.

2. I can't remember how many tasks, it does feel like it goes on for a while, so I'm guessing 30 without math then 30 with. There's instructions in between both of those. On this, they all come in at once, unlike the prep. In the prep, they would sometimes go in from the sides a few seconds late, but on here, it's all at once so you'll know when you press "0" if nothing is going to crash. I did have some planes crash maybe 2 or 3 seconds into the screen (it's a bit faster than on the prep). When you do the practice, it'll say "the minimum number of planes to remove to avoid all crashes was 5." So I'm guessing removing more will give you some points off. Always try to remove the least amount of planes.

When are you taking yours?

Interesting, thanks for the information.

Is it like on the prep were you maybe remove 1 or seldom 2, rarely 3. Or are you pretty much removed like 2-5 each time?

I take it on the 11th

Like Ara said, it can be none or up to around 5. I don't think there was any where I removed more than 4. I kept trying to minimize the number of planes I removed. Good luck brother

  • The initial instructions all said that some tests require you to wait a certain amount of time before answering.

  • does anyone remember which tests said this??

I got my status updated to Not Referred, though it says my AT-SA placed me in the Well Qualified category. Just confirming, does this mean I passed the test, but got denied for other reasons?

You don't retake the test if you passed?

Your ATSA scores are good for 3 years. If you got WQ or BQ, it’s advisable not to take the test again and let your past score roll over into the new bid.

It’s a discretionary call though. You might test higher, but then again you could test lower. It’s all about what you’re comfortable with.
