Any word on when OKC classes will resume?

Weren't you the guy had one of the first classes to be cancelled? You just started??
My original OKC date was 5/19 for basics. That's the day I virtually onboarded and just started basics today, 6/16. Almost a month from onboard to class start

What do you mean m8. I’m a career d side at this point. Maintain 2000 and released. All day every day.

one group isn’t in a union and that group is training
If you had the chance would you stay a D Side for life? Never have to worry about the stress of radar and still make about 100K if your at a 12?

I was in the first class to be cancelled. We're done with basics and well into the second phase...which is nothing more than prep for when we go 'across the street.' 3 hours daily of going through the syllabus and practicing various tower scenarios as best as then can manage via zoom. It's not the worst thing in the world, but like everyone else...I'd love to know what's down the road. Kinda sucks knowing we'd be at our first facilities by now, pre-COVID.

Jesus I can't imagine doing that 3 hour training for so long, it seems like such a waste of time.

It gets better, we have to self study for the other 5 hours per day.
No one is doing that.

You mind me asking what your class date is?

So... what is an illness that you can fake that won't let you attend virtual class that doctors can't detect easily? I'm thinking mono ;)

Anything for RTF?

My instructor said go home and study with my classmates and run over scenarios and practice practice practice. I didn't do any of that. Still passed. You know what I learned? He was right. You know what I still don't do? Self study.

When did you receive more info about your class/ipads? I got an email about three weeks ago that I'd be starting online basics 6/25 but haven't heard anything since.

Different person but for me I received my iPad and some information about Huddle and Zoom access about a week before class started. I got my Blackboard info 2 days before and I got my iPad login the day before.

IF you make it through the academy, your OJTI are going to love your attitude and work ethic. Keep it up.
Could you tell it was a joke?

There's a difference in doing classes online for three hours a day where instructors read off a powerpoint, try to teach you the material (poorly), then tell you it doesn't really matter since we're starting over when we go to OKC anyway.

I'd rather just not take the money until I get there because online learning is not as effective for me as in-person. I do enjoy having access to the enroute materials though.

It sounds like your virtual basics experience wasn't great. Personally the instructors I had (I can only assume there is multiple) were very thorough. They didn't just read off the powerpoint, they explained things in depth, didn't worry too much about the schedule given to them by the academy and took extra time where needed. Was there a lot of self study? Yes. But I didn't feel like it was a waste of time or I didn't learn anything.
