What was the general mood or atmosphere at the convention? I mean did folks speak up/out? Did they just "play along"? Was there some anger towards the neb?

There were some who spoke up but we were definitely in the minority and others tried to say we were just mad about the election results. There were a lot of first time people (myself included). I wish I would have spoke on more things but it took most of a day for me to get a feel for things. I’m sure others were the same. Hopefully the next one more people go if they agree there needs to be a change in our union. I’m sure this one was tough for some people to get leave who didn’t plan to go because by the time the extension happened, leave bidding was well underway. Change wasn’t going to happen after one Convention. Those of us that want the change need to keep going back.

It was taken over by a bunch of lefty, woke, softy, socialist. They can never get anything productive done…hoard (hide) all the money, cover shit up, lie, cheat, and are the biggest hypocrites. Speak up against it and your cancelled.

Convention was pretty normal it seemed. I expected more angry members to talk, but I guess they all quit the union and couldn’t come to speak on issues.

They spent 2 hours honoring Trish Gilbert to run out the clock because they knew there was no way to vote down the Amendment allowing membership to vote on an extension without getting their ass handed to them politically.

False. It could have been the first amendment heard if someone suspended the rules and called to hear it.

Has this resulted in anything in your experience? Help change my mind. As far as I can tell, 10,000 controllers have been yelling about pay, time off, workload, overtime, etc for an egregious amount of time. What changed? If nothing of consequence changed, how did the paying members have more impact than non paying?

The rest of the body has to agree to hear an amendment/resolution out of order. So whoever is majority between the Yes’ and No’s decides if it gets heard. A lot of people tried to hear certain ones, but the body didn’t want it (or maybe the No’s were just louder lol).

I had the same feelings. What IMPACT are my dues having? I left because what my dues are supporting...I whole heartedly believe FAAMA or congress would do better.
1-supported privitization in 2017.
2-subsidized Paul and Trish gofund me and retirement.
3-helped keep trainees quiet during covid so I could have a 5 10 while not helping people with vaccine exemptions.
4-I don't even have to think about moving, unless it's to Philly or Long Island
5-Initially left OUT of federal employment paid parental leave...LOL
6-PR team gets billboards at major venues (and then tickets to games and concerts to double check their work)

The way our union votes on amendments is antiquated and stupid, quite frankly. There’s so much technology at our disposal, and instead of using it our delegates just yell yay or nay like it’s the fucking 1800s.
