Hiring Bid Air Traffic Control Specialist - Trainee: FAA-ATO-18-ALLSRCE-57792

I got drilled by my security person about me being terminated 2 years ago from a low paying part time job. That would be crazy if I get rejected when there are government officials with a way worse track record working rn with clearances.

I was terminated from a job 4.5 years ago while working 2 jobs amd mentioned it on my sf86.. so far hasn't been brought up, but they asked about something separate. Might be just because it was "only" 2 years ago that they said something

Stressing a little about medical since I have a rating and had lasik done. Has anyone done it and can you share what you did?

I’m in the dark about what you mean on rating.

But I had lasik done two months before I took my medical evaluation. I ended up getting a pair of glasses to cover for my right eye. It’s still not to 20/20 but it’s not stabilized enough to do an enhancement. The AME didn’t seem too concerned about it.

I'm sorry, I mean a VA rating. Just wanted to see what other veterans did with this. It asks about the percentages rated but should I bring all detailed paperwork just in case ?

I have a 50% rating, and I brought my VA paperwork with me, but the physician never asked to see them. He asked me what my range of motion was (I have knee and back issues) and wrote it down, but he later said "well I don't think you'll be doing a whole lot of moving around as a controller, so nothing to worry about."

Thanks a lot for that. Guess they just want to see if it affects sitting around and controlling lol

Yeah I'm sure if you had a 100% disability (legs blown off, missing eyeball, head injury) then it would affect where you can work. I read somewhere on here that a woman in a wheelchair was accommodated for her disability.

Anybody else do their medical in the Seattle/Tacoma area? That dude got me in and done in like 12 mins. We do that same stuff for our flight physical in the AF and it takes like 2-3 hours.

I've listened in. Honestly boring unless you're just trying to learn the lingo. You can't really do much with the communication if theres no visuals to reference. Check out the VASAviation YouTube channel. Lots of cool real emergency situations with visuals to follow along.
Should download flightradar24 on your phone and then you should have some what of a visual. I would say it’s better then just listening in and not knowing what’s happening in the air.

On a lighter note, I went for the Minnesota psych test yesterday and got to go on a tour of the tower facility. Pretty amazing job and cool people. I walked out inspired and ready to get all the paperwork taken care of.

Same here! took a look around Atlanta's location after my mmpi and met some cool folks. huuuge place

You can use airportviewer.com for a good visual of certain airports while listening, it's pretty close to real time, with filters and layers.

Submitted my SF86 last week, luckily most of my data was saved from an SF86 I filled out a year ago for another fed job I ended up deciding not to pursue. Scheduled the MMPI-2 for tomorrow. Need to get my fingerprints done this week hopefully and schedule my med exam also. I tried calling the nearest office listed on Friday but it just kept ringing until it switched to a weird screeching tone. Gonna try again tomorrow and hopefully get through, but if not I guess just try the other nearest facility? Or email them?

I had migraines as a small child and briefly took prescribed meds for them, although switched to Tylenol pretty much after the initial prescription ran out. I'm going to get a copy of all medical records relating to this but should I mail them somewhere or should I just bring them to the exam??

Are migraines not Disqualifying?
