Hiring Bid Air Traffic Control Specialist - Trainee: FAA-ATO-18-ALLSRCE-57792

Took me 3 hours.
Wow, 45 mins to 3 hours is quite a range lol. Is it a different test for each person? Maybe some people get more questions than others?

You’re absolutely right. Really a roll of the dice at the end of the day and of course nobody knows the method.
The level of mystique they place around the selection process may actually be intended to try and prevent people from trying to “improve” from one bid to the next. I believe the ATSA is supposed to be an aptitude test (similar to an IQ test) vs. a skills-based exam. They’re trying to find people who naturally have the mental processing skills needed to succeed. Obviously it’s human nature to want to prepare/improve for any test, but I’d assume they’d want to discourage that if they are indeed measuring natural abilities.

I’m pretty sure we all take the same MMPI2 test. Reading speed probably plays a big factor. I just used the f key to move forward and felt like a robot clicking to the next question.

There are 567 questions. If you complete it in 45 minutes and my math is correct, that means you spent an average of 4.7 seconds per question. If it takes 3 hours then you spent 19 seconds per question. The test questions are online you can preview them it you like and possibly speed up the time.

I just called the FAA HR and she told out of the 3 bands (best-qualified, well-qualified, and qualified), I was in qualified. I guess I'll see ya'll non-TOLs next bid ?

Same here :/ had my fingers and toes crossed she would tell me best qualified. She said that anything that can happen and there may not be many candidates separating us in the qualified category from the best. See y’all next ATSA!

That's nice of her to be encouraging but two poster said they were best qualified and didn't get a tol.

Quick question if anyone knows.

Just received a promotion at work. Transitioned from a 1099, to W2 employee.

Will I need to notify HR of the changes?

Had my medical appt scheduled for this afternoon until they called this morning and cancelled and wouldn't let me reschedule (Dr. will be out indefinitely). Happy Monday everyone!

Seriously though, any input on what I should do? I emailed HR and haven't heard back yet. I'm assuming I'm going to have to reschedule at the next nearest office, but does that mean I have to redo the medical worksheet and MedX form??? And my drug test is in two days, probably have to reschedule that as well now.

I don't know if you need to, but it can't hurt. I sent them an email letting them know my address will be changing soon and they just said thanks for the update. Might as well.

Also waiting on a TOL for this bid- hoping they send out a few more this week. Contacted the HR number y'all linked a few pages back and I'm also a band 1- best qualified.

Also wondering if it's worth retaking the ATSA on the next bid if needed- but I'll stay optimistic for another week or so first.

Definitely an interesting hiring process. I bet they don’t tell you your score so they can cherry pick who they like based off resumes and priorities on the test ? that way nobody can say a candidate who scored lower than them got hired and make it a big deal.

Why are you only giving it a week? Stay optimistic forever. That's how I've gotten through work the past few months haha

Ok I’ll give it a try. She hasn’t answered any of my calls or responded to any of my emails.

Look through the medical list that was sent and schedule with another doctor that you can get to. I had two near my location to choose from. Hopefully there is another within driving distance from you.

Thats the plan but I want to hear from my HR POC first, cause I don't know if I'll have to fill out the med forms again since I put my original appt date on them. Also it said you had to do the drug test within five days of your medical, dunno how strict they are with that but that would mean I need to reschedule that as well. It seems my HR POC has the day off so I'll try them again tomorrow.
