ZME is my goal 🙁I’m in TN as well and would definitely prefer ZME (assuming I get enroute) but it doesn’t sound like that facility has been offered to the past several classes...

There are alot worse jobs out there that you can literally just show up to work and get paid 50 grand to wait a year...The list will change tremendously by the time your class is ready to select facilities. There are so many variables that go into, it’s pointless to look at what is being offered lately.
Something to consider with ZME, their training is backlogged to hell.. My buddies who graduated with me back in September aren’t going to D school until 2020... It’ll be a long training wait at AG there for the foreseeable future.
Well ya.. All I’m saying was to consider that into a decision. I definitely didn’t mind making money effectively doing nothing when I waited to train, but it sure is mind numbingly boring. There are alot worse jobs out there that you can literally just show up to work and get paid 50 grand to wait a year...
What exactly do you do in that time? Is there actually ATC related work you can do or is it just busy work? Or nothing at all and you just sit around?Well ya.. You’ll have map tests and other little things, but those only take so long. After that, it’s exactly what Sir_Unable said lol. Study your LOA’s/SOP’s and monitor the controllers on the floorWhat exactly do you do in that time? Is there actually ATC related work you can do or is it just busy work? Between 2 months and 2 yearsHow long could one expect to stay AG at ZHU and ZSE?
That’s probably hard to say. I’d take a look at the average training time per facility and half it to give you at least a rough idea. Whatever facility you go to, you’ll have to go through initial stage 2 training which is basically mao tests, d school which is lab simulation problems, and then actual training on two sectors before you reach D1.How long could one expect to stay AG at ZHU and ZSE?
Totally random guess, but perhaps something came back from your urine exam that warrants further testing. I believe a basic metabolic panel covers kidney functions as well, which is obviously a part of the UT system. So I just got an email from my medical POC saying I need to go to my medical provider and get a Basic Metabolic Panel Lab Test. Wtf?? Why would I need to get this?? I don't have any medical conditions? Why wouldn't something like this just be included in the medical exam? It also says I will have to pay for it. Also, I just got sent this request at 9:35 PM...
Yeah from what I gather the basic metabolic is kidney as well, which is the only thing I could think of to connect it. The doctor at my medical said my urine test was perfect though, kind of makes me wonder.Totally random guess, but perhaps something came back from your urine exam that warrants further testing. Like it's been said before if the Dr doing your exam says something is perfect or that you pass disregard it. They are not the final say in your medical evaluation.Yeah from what I gather the basic metabolic is kidney as well, which is the only thing I could think of to connect it. If it’s just a simple blood test they need it should be simple if you go through a general physician. I explained what they needed to my doctor and she was just like wow that’s dumb go upstairs to the lab and results will be up in a few days. Quick and easy. This is actually turning out to be a real pain to get. I was told by the lab over the phone that they accepted walk-ins and would do the test, but upon getting there, they said they need a doctor's order. Told me to go to urgent care and be seen and they would give an order. Did all that and the nurse told me they wouldn't give the order for a reason like this, that I needed to have an actual condition/disease first. So now I need to get a PCP (don't have one around here as I'm relatively new in the area), set an appt with them, get the order, then get the lab work, and hope that they'll actually give me the results to then email to the FAA.
There are some labs where you can walk in and request most lab tests without a doctors order but I assume it’s self pay. Your doctor said there has to be a diagnosis in order for insurance to pay for it. If you tell the doctor you aren’t going through insurance you don’t need a diagnosis. This is actually turning out to be a real pain to get. There was no mention of insurance or self pay or anything, they just said no. I'll try calling back and asking if there's any difference if I pay for it myself. There are some labs where you can walk in and request most lab tests without a doctors order but I assume it’s self pay. Unfortunately there's none in my state. Thanks for the info though!Check www.anylabtestnow.com There are 170 locations and the Basic Metabolic Panel is $49
Aaaannnd just called the lab and they confirmed that it has nothing to do with insurance or self pay. They said they're not allowed to draw fluids from you or perform any tests whatsoever without orders from a doctor. Hopefully I can get an appointment with a primary care provider this week. There was no mention of insurance or self pay or anything, they just said no.
