Brand new here. Following along for any useful info. Pool 1, best qualified, referred.
In regards to how I felt about the test I am shocked I fell into this category. I had collisions, I barely focused on math at all. I know I missed a few aspect questions. I ran out of time on the last two or three word problems on both portions and guessed. (However I am fairly confident in the ones I did have time to answer). I left the testing center feeling pretty defeated. Not defeated because of the difficulty (I knew it would be difficult) but simply not taking advantage of questions and problems that I should have got correct. Best of luck to everyone.

I've been wondering this as well. Are you placed into a band based on raw score or is Best Qualified given to the top X percent of applicants and so on?
Pretty sure it's raw score.

Being invited to take the atsa means you met the qualification requirements .

I doubt there's a raw score, it's most likely based on a curve. It's probably something like top 25% best qualified, bottom 25% just qualified, and the middle 50% well qualified.
I wouldn't be surprised at all if a portion of selection was just random. I don't think the ATSA really measures aptitude, it's just a way for them to wean the number of applicants so they can throw more bodies at the staffing problem. It's all a numbers game.

yep. there's no "failed" score on the atsa to the best of my knowledge

I got busy with work and had forgotten to check up on this recently. Just checked, I wasn't referred. I guess passing the academy once isn't good enough. I don't get it. I don't know what I have to do to get back in. But good luck to everyone who goes to the academy.

So I got Pool 1/Well Qualified/ Referred but never got an email. I didn't even think to check USAJobs till someone at work mentioned it. So now what? Just wait to see if I actually get a TOL? I wanna make sure I'm not missing something here.

The only emails were from USAJOBS saying there was a status update to the application. If you didn't get an email you probably don't have it set in your account preferences. The next emails with TOLs will come from an FAA email address. You won't wiss that one.

Oh my good friend. It's a long story. Referred in 2017 passed the academy 2018 and was at my first tower. Had a medical hiccup that I had to resolve that sidelined things and now I'm healthy and ready to go but they didn't take me.

Pool 2 - Best Qualified. Now I just wait for an email with a CIL? Does anyone have any good study materials that would be useful before going to the academy?
I believe in the past they actually did have a "raw" percentage score—90%+ BQ, 80-89 WQ, 70-79 Q, less than 70 was a fail. I could be mistaken though, and even if I was correct they could have changed it.
Try looking at the FAQ, turns out it has a list of frequently-asked questions!! Imagine that.
Make sure you know your NATO phonetic alphabet backwards and forwards and in your sleep. Other than that they teach you everything you need to know and pieces change often enough that studying beforehand might not be a good idea.
