Do you think I'd be putting the cart before the horse if I were to purchase Basics study guides?
I wouldn’t recommend basics study guides. Basics, itself is extremely simple. You get taught a lesson and then are quizzed on the lesson. The only thing that is graded is the final exam… I will say the basics test is a lot more difficult than the end of lesson tests as the questions are worded completely different and will require you to really know the material. Everyone else in my class also agreed that the final test was more difficult than the course information that was taught. One person in my class failed basics. I would say study the lessons if you’re struggling. Really pay attention to the jeopardy game that they do on the last day of actual class and write down what you don’t know and then study that.

anyone else get EODS forms? From people I've talked to it usually it seems like it takes 3-6 weeks to start getting emails about EODS after accepting the TOL
I felt like that was super fast. But it gives me hope that we will see more being sent out.
I try to compare a projected timeline to people's signatures on the forum.

You guys will get your email. And if HR somehow didn't receive your response, they'll send a "last warning" email and give you another shot to submit before they remove you from the process

Good to know, thanks!
Edit: Trying to be patient with the process. I feel like it will feel fast looking in hindsight, but it's hard not to get antsy. It could be like a year or two. I just feel like it's going to zoom by.

Do you think HR would give me a deferment so I could finish my degree? (< 1 year)

I'd say it depends. You'll have to wait a few months anyway just to get the process done and receive your clearances and thats best case scenario with a squeaky clean medical/background. I'd say you'd definitely need to be starting/in your last semester during the time you get all your clearances for them to give you a deferment but nothings guaranteed. I just started my final semester of college while waiting for my class date from the 2020 bid when I was a sophomore at the time of applying. My HR in particular said as long as I don't need any more than a "couple months" deferment, they wouldn't have a problem with it.

I would most likely be graduating after the spring semester (like May 2023). Sucks because I feel so close to completion but if the agency calls, I feel obligated to answer.

One option is to finish this semester. Maybe take two summer classes since those are shorter, but I’m not sure about the fall semester.

Anyway, since you still won’t finish, I’d speak with an academic adviser about potentially taking your classes at a later date, possibly? Speak to them. They might have better advice. But I wouldn’t let this opportunity slide by. College will always be there, but this gig is a golden ticket.

My advice is live life like normal. My process has been at the 2 year mark since applying (almost 1.5 since TOL) and I'm STILL waiting for a class date. Don't drop everything until you get that FOL. And with how slow the process is, you probably would end up finishing college or get an FOL right before and fall into that point where you'd have a good shot of deferring. And college will always be there if the academy or ATC in general doesn't work out in your favor. I'd much rather attempt the academy and fail rather than age out and regret not ever trying.
