Hiring Bid FAA-ATO-21-ALLSRCE-73599

Nice! I just cleared medical today. Hopefully, I don't have to wait too long for SV to send me my FOL. I'm really hoping for terminal, but alotta ppl have been getting en route lately.
I was recently told by GS that you cannot be placed into a different track than the one you are initially offered.

I was also told that by somebody else, so I guess the previous trick where you try to delay your start date to potentially get a new class date on a different track no longer works?

But I don’t see how that no longer works given they try to fill class seats based on what is available at that time, which may be a different track than what was originally offered.

Idk. What do you think?

That trick will not work at this time.

When I asked GS for a deferral, we went over the available dates together on the phone.

She only listed the dates for terminal and specifically said she cannot offer me en-route since I was initially offered terminal.

I'm personally glad I received terminal.

Looks like they finally caught on to the trick lol.

The answer is prob a "no" on this because it would open up the floodgates to everyone, but I wonder if it's possible to request/suggest one track over the other before a FOL is offered.

Yeah, that's not gonna fly.

The majority of people are placed into the enroute track simply because of how the numbers work. Centers can handle/need way more people than the lower level towers that new hires go to.

Quick question, how long does it take for someone to transfer to a TRACON (specifically LAX or SEA if you have any info on those), I'm assuming like 4+ years after you're checked out of your tower?
