Has anyone had any luck contacting their state's representative to speed up the Tier 2 process?
I am from the 2017 bid.
Notified of Tier 2 in June 2018 (that's right.....my application has been stuck in T2 for 18 months)
I have had to sit back and watch dozens of people get cleared not only from the 2017 bid, but from the 2018 and 2019 bids as well. I'm over the "be patient emails".....assuming i get a response at all.
Can someone please point me in the right direction on who to contact and what to say?
I can't remember if you've even had your eval. If memory serves me right you eval'd in July 2019 and are still waiting.
To do a congressional inquiry you have to locate who your senate representative is for your voting district. Which you should be able to do without issue on google.
From there they should have a form you can fill out. Basically you explain the what (your situation being tier 2), when (timeline, when you did your eval to where you are now), why (being hired for ATC and needing a medical class 2 which required an evaluation) and then what you would like them to do.
Realistically, all they can do is inquire on your behalf to why it's taking so long. You can request them to ask for your case to be reviewed in a more timely fashion and I would ask them to provide you with an ETA on when yours will be reviewed.
Congress has no power in forcing the FAA to get this done any faster. I started my congressional inquiry fall of 2018 I believe. They've helped get ETAs and "why" for what is taking so long. But they can't change the timeline.
I did my eval November of 2019. FAA confirmed receipt of eval January 2020, about a week and a half ago. Last week they emailed congress saying my eval would be completed in 12-18 weeks. Though there isn't anything holding them to that as it's their process to do.
If you're military/prior service the "hurry up and wait" should be your mentality. Unfortunately, we're both stuck here from the 2017 bid.
Personally, I quit putting off my life and accepted another civilian job. Focusing on paying things off, saving money should I get approved for the FAA, etc.
My plan is still to work ATC obviously. Though waiting around for years like we have, they could still deny us. I just wouldn't make any big moves across country or anything.
