Who gives a fuck about politics on this forum honestly, stfu.
We need a raise and our union has shown to be in competent over the last handful of years. If we don't open the contract and negotiate a significant portion of the membership will be leaving. In general it's normally talk but it's gotten to the point where people are straight up leaving now and dgaf.
We are in a period with all labor negotiations getting insanely significant raises. The Boeing workers may even be able to get their pensions back which is wild (yet deserved). Meanwhile NATCA "stands in solidarity" with all these other workers, but what do they do for us??
We should be holding picketing events in every major metro area every other month or so. Our union should be all over the news talking about how overworked amd underpaid we are and how we haven't had any sort of raise that comes close to keeping up with inflation.
I don't want to hear how 'the public won't understand cause we're "paid too much"'. If pilots can run picket lines when they make 3-4x as much as we do we should be able to as well.

I personally don't have an issue saying 'controllers deserve a raise' while simultaneously voting for Trump. I recognize those things are considered to be at odds, but I'd rather see our country succeed overall than blindly vote for an absolute failure simply because she's considered 'labor friendly.' At this point, voting for Harris just because you hope for a raise would be like polishing the brass on the Titanic as it floundered.

We can argue all day about the democratic party’s influence on union horsepower. And it’s also fair to consider things like record high gas and grocery prices, 15 million+ illegals flooding our country, sky high violent crime rates, wars, killer inflation, men in women’s sports and bathrooms…

Here it is guys. This is the what the union is to believe. The average salary in the US is about 60k. The average ATC salary (center skewed) is 137k. People at 11s and 12s with OT can make 250k. Now imagine going public and saying that. The average American will be like they’re getting paid that much and want a raise?? We saw the same thing happen with the longshoreman. Few of them made 150-200 but a majority was actually at 50-80. No one understands that impact that we have in this job. No one understands our importance. We’re locked away in a random room in the middle of no where or in a tower that no one can have access to. We’re out of sight out of mind.
This is the mindset ND has. This is the mentality he’s going to approach negotiations with. And unfortunately it will end the union. I’ve enjoyed my time while it lasted with you guys, my brothers and sisters.

I never ever ever want to hear about any premium pay when talking about how much we make. We just get the premiums that the entire federal government gets. We should only ever talk about our base salary
