Stuck in a holding pattern at a facility

I know multiple people who've resigned due to no movement. I think the younger generation of Americans are more willing to change careers than the older generation if they aren't happy. Nothing wrong with either approach, just my observation.
 
Why doesnt ASE get the same amount of new hires as VGT. I know people who want a FAA ATC job badly. They would take ASE in a heartbeat. Center washouts fingers crossed about getting a 2nd chance at a lower level facility would jump on ASE too. Why isn't ASE getting these people!!!!
Because people will actually go to VGT. VGT will get willing controllers who have washed out and people have hardshipped there. You can live in Vegas making VGT money. People are pretty smart these days and will do everything in their power to stay from somewhere like ASE

The real Travesty is the FAA doesn’t try to hire locally for these HCOL places. People already live there and work jobs where they make a lot less.

They’re legally not allowed to. They had to get a court ordered waiver to do the local N90 bid, and part of the stipulation to make it fair to national hires was that the bid is for N90 only so if you wash you’re done, no NEST.

Wow. Lots of people will be without a job in a year or 2.

That’s legally dumb and makes no sense. But what’s stopping them from have an ASE all sourced bid? Or a ZOA all sources bid?

ASE wouldn't be worth the effort and ZOA isnt the same meat grinder needing staffing. As for being dumb yeah that's true, but by law they have to offer it nationally, so area specific is very rare. Something something democrats republicans MAGA and stuff

But imagine the hundred controllers forced to the Bay Area when there are millions that already live there and want to live there.
 
My facility has never been within 2 cpcs of releasing anyone. Currently 3, going on 4 cpcs short of Cat II. “share the burden” is what we’ve been told by NATCA.
 
NEST non CPCit should always go to the lowest staffed lvl 4,5,6,7s just like acad grads with the same list. It is messed up watching failures go to high staffed places (90%+)that keep turning people out while constant low staffed places just stay low staffed. The nest controllers know to go to high staffed places and skip black holes.

The no local bids is an equal opportunity thing. The no NEST thing is because someone could apply to the N90 local bid with theoretically much less competition and then wash or withdraw and take someone else’s spot somewhere else as an easy-in.

Yep, while CPCs sitting at low places for years checked out waiting to go somewhere livable. Watching people with years less in the agency fail a center, then going to places we would love to be.
 
CPC at 4,5,6 can't transfer into 9,10+. You're told, "Go to a 7,8 first and get some more AC experience". --- Yet a non CPC can wash down to a 8,9,10+

Serious question about the people making these rules. Were they ever controllers, or are they just HR logistic types?

Plenty of low levels transferring to high levels since NCEPT
 
Currently 8 people short to release anyone. 60 percent staffing at a lvl 8 up/down. Id submit my ERR but what’s the point? We’re like 2 years away from MAYBE releasing anyone lol
