Because the list is magic and that's how it works.
If it were me I'd go either MSN or BUF for "best" facility... MSN consistently rates high on many "best places to live" lists... It's one of the few facilities in the FAA that's gaining traffic... The downside is their staffing number just jumped up (hence why it's on your list) so it may be a while before there's any movement there. I can't speak for the environment there, but the area is gorgeous and cost of living is very reasonable.hey guys, we pa on Tuesday and i wanted to see if anyone had anything to say about the list we just got. mostly in regards to the work environment and if there's anywhere we should avoid.

PA's were a lot easier than Scenario's 10+. Let that ease your mind. My first local run honestly felt like a 7. Stay aware, calm, and confident. We take PAs tomorrow. Any advice from any of you guys that have gone through and made it?

Your last academy arrival from a couple weeks ago start training yet?I work at ONT. High level 5 facility in the LA area/Inland Empire SoCal. If you like air carriers, heavy jets (B747-8, UPS/FDX/Amazon cargo) this is a great facility to begin your career. Come prepared to work hard and succeed at a growing airport in the greater LA area. We are the primary divert airport for LAX. Cost of living is higher in LA and OC but the inland empire is much more affordable. Many of our trainees live within 10-15 min from work. We are 40 miles east of downtown LA, 25 miles NE of Anaheim/central Orange County.
Classroom this next week, sim the week after, then OJF/Start the following week.Your last academy arrival from a couple weeks ago start training yet?
Do what I did... let the nerves go crazy until u plug in. I told myself.. be nervous all u want until u plug your headset in. I allowed myself to freak out to myself and then as soon as I plugged in I said "ok, no more nerves" and it worked. It's normal to be nervous.. there's a lot at stake, but when it comes down to the opportunity to perform, you can't think about how nervous you are you MUST stop that portion of your brain. We take PAs tomorrow. Any advice from any of you guys that have gone through and made it?

We have everyone still, lowest local run was 50, everybody did 82 and higher on groundSo what's the verdict after day one?
I don't remember which one was Adam. The one that I got the 36 with was the dude with the glasses who talks to all the classes. The bigger guy that everyone called The Gatekeeper is actually the one I did well with. And I use the term "well" loosely. Was Adam your evaluator??

Okay, yeah that's what I had figured. I guess I never learned his actual name. I got a 68 with Adam, which was one of the better local scores anyone had gotten with him in our class.Adam is The Gatekeeper.

All the evaluators seemed fair. Adam definitely gave the lowest grades in the class and he sent someone home who didn't deserve to not make it, but he simply applies the rules as they are written.
Honestly, people heard about him being a tough grader and they psyched themselves out when he was grading their local. I believe they got lower scores as a result of that, not that he grades unfairly.
