Welp. Just got a TOL today for N-90. Had one for about a week back in September before it was rescinded..

It's supposed to still be happening, not sure when though. Targeted to people living within 50 miles of Long Island.

There's a class now at the Academy doing the RTF/TSEW/TETRA courses. These first couple classes are for course validation. They all have tracons they're going to whether or not they pass the classes, but any of them that pass the TETRA Performance Assessments have the option to go to N90 instead of the facility they're currently assigned.

Supposedly they want the local bid GenPub people to go through the Academy before the prior experienced direct hire people from last years bid, and my buddy who got picked up on that was told to expect an Academy date of May and N90 report date of August. So if it's going to happen it has to be soon if that's still the plan.

Do you have to apply specifically for an N90 bid? Just got a TOL for the 7/7 bid and I know it’ll be at least a year before I’d get to the academy- if I went here I wouldn’t have to move my family because I’m already in the area even though it seems like a daunting facility to go to straight out of the academy... are they offering the option to any graduate?

At this time Academy graduates are not going to N90... Perhaps you can get one of the low level towers

TEB is a level 9 and will not be given to academy grads. I know that you guys are excited but it bears repeating, the terminal placement list changes continually, what you see now will look completely different 3/6/9/12 months in the future. You can only relatively predict what will fall to your class when you are ~two weeks away from graduating. Even then, it's all dependent on how many people pass in the two classes ahead of you.
Oh ok that’s good to know, thanks...Thought TEB was a level 7... either way I guess it’s all a waiting game. I should probably just expect and prepare to move since that’s more likely.
So we don’t find out our facility choices until the end of Academy? I know top of the class picks first but are we only aware of our choices at the last week? Do we have to pick a facility on the spot? Also wondering do controllers stay with tracon or tower their whole careers one or the other or can you do either since they’re both terminal? Sorry for all the questions

You'll have a general idea of what facilities will be on the list a few weeks in advance, but the list for your class isn't exactly known until the classes in front of you graduate. Depending on what they choose and how many in their classes don't make it through evals will affect your list.
Your first facility will be either a tower-only, or an up/down (you'll work both tower and approach.) If someone starts in terminal (tower/updown/tracon) they'll generally stay in that their entire career.
Same for enroute....they usually stay in the enroute facilities. But both have the option to transfer to either specialty if they want and staffing permits it.
TEB got a double upgrade last year.
Anyone on here know the details of the TEB upgrade? 2 levels in 1 audit seems very unlikely in most cases but for future reference did those guys get 6% twice?
