Government Shutdown - March Edition

Sick leave letters seem silly to get if you aren't burning any sick leave
This is sidebar, but I’ve said this exact thing about calling and saying “I can’t make it in” on an OT shift. Pretty sure you can’t get a letter if you aren’t being charged sick leave and you never stated you were sick. Where people have fucked up in the past is abusing fatigue leave because then your ATM can draw a medical nexus from that and report it to your servicing flight surgeon, without violating HIPAA.

What is this medical Nexus you speak of ?

So, now that we're basically ignoring laws, taking over the payment systems, firing anyone and everyone who could try to investigate or stop you from committing treason, etc... how many seconds before they fix the glitch that ensures we'll be backpaid when they decide to shutdown next month?

If you were watching this unfold in a movie, you would probably turn it off and say, “This movie is over the top. This would never happen. That’s now how the federal government works. That’s not how any of this works.” And yet……

I went 100% g last week. Good luck everyone. Not that g is probably safe
I can understand that sentiment, but remember “Markets can remain irrational longer than you can remain solvent.” - John Maynard Keynes.

Diversification is still a smart strategy, so even if you want more of your money in the G fund, diversifying by still having some stock funds is wise. Remember, the I fund invests in non-U.S. companies.

It’s ok. I’ll hang out for a couple months and see what happens. This isn’t normal

I understand. The G fund investing in U.S. Treasury securities backed by the “full faith and credit of the U.S. government” might now be in question when Musk & his cohort of dweebs now have access to the Treasury payment system.

If that crashes then I don’t think anything matters anymore.

As news about a shutdown looms try to remember my quote from way earlier in this thread, from years ago 2023 AC (after covid)
I GUARANTEE that continuing resolution goes through-shutting down the government is good for the working plebian class now (free leave and guaranteed pay) so our reptilian overloads will 100% not let us have that

So you didn't read what I wrote upthread a few days ago? All Trump has to do is sign a document and the backpay guarantee goes away. They are literally wiping out departments and firing people without any regard to the laws and processes that normally apply. And except in a couple extreme cases, nobody is intervening. Considering his personal friend now has control of the Treasury, I wouldn't even bank on receiving any backpay. (Not like we have any power as workers to stop it, either)

All bets are off, and don't expect the slate book- regardless of extension- to be a barrier to any whims of the executive. He already signed one doc that says basically contractually agreed to telework was unlawful unless his admin specifically approves it.

Lay off the drugs

Well an executive order cannot change an act of congress so I guess you can calm down. I'd imagine a delay may happen but the law was passed in 2019 and I said there won't be a shutdown again because of it. If there was a shutdown OH BOY would it be crazy in this climate.

Exactly. The stupid anti-birthright EO, that tried to ignore the 14th Amendment along with case law that has supported it, was slapped down by a federal judge. There might be delays that require a judge to lay down the law, but federal statutes always supersede EOs.
