Duffy Says: Age Increase, Raise & Safer? Offer Coming?

They need to get rid of leave not counting as rest. If I took a day of leave I should be able to work OT and not have it count as 7 day. I think it’s just a limitation of ghetto art mostly.
Facts. I’ve been saying this forever. There’s people out there who want to work 7 days a week, multiple OT days. And then there’s people who don’t want OT at all, and anytime they get assigned they just bang it (not shitting on the people that do that, you do you, but it sucks for those of us who want/need OT to see others get it and not work it). The FAA shouldn’t be able to ASSIGN anyone 7 day work weeks, but if I say “I’m willing and able to work 7 days” I should be allowed

Fuck that precedent.

You're high.

There is a rule that if you’re actively helping train air traffic controllers that your pay is exempt for the purposes of reducing your SSS. So you could have your pension, SSS, and work for SAIC (or whomever has the contract now) and keep all of them at full value.
Does this rule apply to controlling at contract towers like another post said, or just SAIC trainers? I know of a few contractors who RPO the regional sim and they don’t seem to fall under this because they can only work until they hit the 23k cap.

The fatigue rules aren't for your personal health or finances. They exist because being fatigued is a factor in a lot of accidents. No, actually you shouldn't have the right to work 8 shifts a week just because you need cash.

That’s not what I said at all lol. I said if I bang in or take annual on a non RDO it should reset my rest for the 7 days

I believe it’s just actively training so think FAA facility contract instructors and the Academy instructors at least according to the older guys here who are doing it.

Didn’t recently the earlier retires catch up to the other ones due to the COLA? But it was like a record adjustment
Ya its all a big personal decision and a roll of the dice. This is the way i look at it as a versus scenario. Again, my personal opinions and preferences based on the hand and rules we were dealt. A little scatter brained but here we go.....

Regular ATC retirement-
-Lower top 3 ( because you're not working additional years)

- Retire at 50 or 25 years, golden handcuffs achieved

-24%+ increase to your pension ( thats 12+ years at an average of 2% a year at normalish inflation) Doesn't quite make up the difference if you would of worked till 57 and get the atc vision 100. But...

-recieve SRS for 12+ years, low average of $16,800 a year. ($1,400 a month ). Should be a little higher number from 57 to 62 for vision 100, but not wildly. Thats $117,600 for absolutely zero work in 7 years in comparison to staying for vision 100.

-get any job or part time job you want. Seemed like anything around $25k to $35k be equall to your vision 100 and special supplement will be.
-No earnings test till your 57. So depending on personal preferences on how much you want to work, say you land another 50k to 70k job or higher.... you are making comparable numbers to what youd be making in the agency if you stayed, or higher.

-Laws allow us to pull from TSP without penalty, if you want to ball out.

-FKN FREEEEDOM BOYS! No more management bullshit, no government bullshit, no more training, you decide what you want out of life. Make up for that lost time with family and start taking care of yourself ASAP. 7 years worth of time of not being a cripple and being able to wipe your own ass is something you cant put a price on.

ATC VISION 100-
-30 years of gov service staying till you're 57

-1.7% for all FAA/DOD years. (Not military though...stttuuuupid)

-higher pension number till the day you stop breathing. Only real benifit.

-Earnings test if you want to work again above 24k earnings (it moves up every few years by $500 it seems) Pretty much throwing your free SRS money out the window if you are a person that wanted to try a second career.

-having to find a possible government job for another 1 year from 56 to 57 ( if you change agencies due your research! I believe your quit date and starting date have to be in conjunction or it throws ATC vision 100 out the window! )

-7 more years of enslavement to this thing that we all love, but hate due to mgmt and the agency.

So...... all depends on what you want out of life and whats more valuable to you. Time or a little more money?

Anyone could get hit by a bus tomorrow and poof you're gone! Retire as early as possible. You cannot get time back. Stack your chips now. Get out of debt now. The time is now. Be ready when the clock hits midnight.

I want to be there for my future kids. No amount of money is worth that.

What if we just changed our current retirement to include 1.7% for all years instead of just for 20. Or at least make it that if you reach 56 you get 1.7% for all. Then you don't have to change anything else about our retirement
We should honestly get over 2% IMO. I think our pension is fairly weak, I think mine will barely be over 100k. I’ll be eligible for 47% of my high 3 if I stay til 56? That’s not that great imo.

On top of the maxed out TSP it’s good. Most other jobs are only getting a 401k with the same matching we get (some get more but not many)

Don’t pilots get 17% direct deposit into 401k? And the excess money after being capped just goes to paychecks no?

100k doesn’t get you much these days..in a career where there’s a staffing crisis, whittled down pay, and all the restrictions that other jobs do not have…AND the KDCA incident, I can’t see people continuing to desire this shitty job for much longer lmao

I said some get more. 17% would be very very high match.

There was a NATCA email that came out a couple years ago that said contract towers won’t count against you.

Big hospital in town that my sister works for gets 2.5% for every year worked. I’m sure most other hospitals in the area are similar for competition purposes. My sister will retire at 62 and 40 years collecting over 200k on top of her 401k.

17% isn’t a match that they get. Their 17% is like the 1% that we get regardless how much you put in. Employer max is 69k. Add that to the 23k you can put in, and you’re getting 92k into 401k every year.

I’m not disagreeing I’m just saying that’s not typical and 5% is more typical. I note the difference between match or no march
