Government Shutdown

I did see that, but it sounds like it was already on the outs. They were probably gambling that he got in before 31st Bday or something. While this sucks, it doesn’t mean a lot to me. Maybe the public will soak it up.

I remember news stories of a guy who could t afford his insulin medication because of the shutdown. That was on the first Monday of it. And we received a full paycheck the next day. Some of these stories are just ridiculous.

If they weren't atc they might have gotten paid on a different date. Imagine making 50k a year and having missed (now 2) paychecks. There's so many variables with the news outlet.

Don't we have until next Thursday at midnight for the government to reopen before it's assured that we're missing our 2nd paycheck?

Everyone in AG pay makes 50k and is about to miss their second paycheck.

At least most AGs are furloughed so they can pick up side jobs to help pay the bills. We have someone who got certified on his first position right before the shutdown, so he's considered essential and forced to come in, and these missed paychecks are hitting him hard. I'm sure he's wishing he hadn't certified so fast right now.

Yep, deemed essential at a center with my A side

I wouldn't bet much, but I'm thinking the ambiguity and lack of clarification as to whether we truly will absolutely be charged leave- I think that's purposeful. If we were told with certainty that all time off now is furlough with backpay, I think we would face some staffing shortages.

I get that life is unfair, so non-essentials getting backpay for being home while we don't- I can get past that, and I'm glad for them.
But kick me while I'm down why don't you by charging me leave for furlough days, backdating that crap, and to top it off continue denying blood and excused.
In other words, if it's remotely beneificial for us, nip it in the butt.

All center a sides are working. Idk about tower AG people.

On the last shutdown all the trainees got rush certified on flight data so they could still train clearance and ground, not sure if that's the case with every tower.

I started on Dec 10th and got checked out on FD a couple days before the shutdown started. Was just able to test out of CD and GC classrooms on Tuesday. Originally was going to be stuck on furlough FD until the shutdown ends.
