Change in Status to those on Excused Absence (Proposal)?

For everyone bitching about how little money you make in this job, anyone can get their base to 150k+ a year with only two qualities.

Be Competent, be willing to move anywhere. And believe me the first one is not as widespread as you might think lol. As for the second one, that’s it. I moved across the country to get to my first level 12. People at my facility were mad because “blah blah blah I’ve been in twice as long as you blah blah blah”. So I asked where is your paperwork in to? “Well my wife doesn’t want to move to XXXfacility” like WTF !?!?! There’s your damn answer.

Was your move through NCEPT? Because if not then point two is kind of invalid

Are academy students allowed to bitch?

Making $300 a week for an unknown amount of time...potentially a long time if they schedule us to come back around the predicted second wave of COVID hits....and we're not allowed to really work outside of weekends and after hours.

For what it's worth I've know several people that were working part time while at the academy. Also the only way the FAA will know you are working is if you go bragging about it, if you have a car do some door dashing.

I'll probably low key it if I have to. I just think it's funny that we were told that we can't work, even if we're between classes. Like who came up with that one size fits all policy and thought it would work? Not everything is as cheap as is it is in OK.

One was, one wasn’t, but the point still stands. People bitching they had been trying to get to whatever facility for however long. It just so happened that the place I wanted to go had a 70% washout rate and was under an MOU.

“oh but I could never live there“ ok fine, but you’ll not be getting that 12 pay right now.

And C90/N90/A80 I believe all still have MOUs out.

If you’re willing to move anywhere, you can get picked up at a 12 under NCEPT. But you have to be good at your work and you have to be focused in training. But mainly good.

Man my level 5 is below a 70%, I want an MOU

Ye
Well the success rate is 65%, meaning the washout rate is 35%...so not wrong #ImAnADAhire
Yeah I was actually incorrect, the 5 year rolling success rate was 32% when I got here. Anyone in the FAA could have gotten picked up and priority release, many did.

I completely understand a lot of people’s gripes. But I can’t tell you the number of colleagues we have in this agency who complain about where they are and do not have ERRs in anywhere “well our Staffing is too low anyways” or whatever the excuse is. I understand that NCEPT sucks, but you at least have to have paperwork in, email ATMs, email them again when the ranking list comes out, visit the facility and have an appointment with the ATM.

This is like the rest of life, nobody is going to hand anything to you. GET THE DAMN ERR FILED OR STFU! Thanks for listening to my soapbox lol.

Hobson's choice.

ATC equivalent of "I dont know why people are complaining about staying home watching Netflix all day, its not like they have to go fight the Nazis!".

Not everyone is the same level of self destructive or as masochist as you, nor sees the world the same way. Its not fair to lecture them that they should be. The system is broken and their complaints are valid. Lol @ the notion that you need to be "competent" to work a level 12. Pass that koolaid brutha

Inquiring minds want to know.
Doesn't apply to me, but the med retirement is interesting.... Like why would they be offering that for something that is more than likely a solvable issue in the next year to 18 months (vaccine) when we have an ongoing mass staffing issue?

If I were in that boat, I may be tempted to take the money and run and do something else to supplement the med retirement income. I can't say I do this for love of the work, and if I could do something else and maintain my standard of living you better believe I would.

That said, we should all be getting hazard pay to work, I don't see a way they can legitimately offer people hazard pay to come back, and not give it to those of us who have been working thru this thing, so that one sounds like a win to me, as it's contractually obligated and we should all be getting it to begin with.

I’ve been working the whole time too. Hazard pay should be paid. I’d be more interested in early retirement. I’m eligible in 10 months and would go if they offered it to me. You think the govt would look at ways to offset the huge debt they are incurring by all the stimulus deals. Why not get rid of us at the cap to pay our replacements who aren’t near it anytime soon? Hell no need to have so many people around to work light and I mean very light traffic for the foreseeable future. IMO

Are you talking about disability retirement or something else?
