I’m in the same boat (haven’t been called yet). I’ve flip flopped on both options several times at this point. The only thing holding me back is how accelerated the online basics seems. 14 instruction days and one test prep day and then one test day doesn’t seem like adequate training/education but I could just be overreacting. I graduated pre-med in college but this is different since it’s a lifetime career. Very stressful.Missed a call today from the FAA. Said they had some July dates for me. Not sure whether to tell them I'm going to wait for the school to reopen or take the online courses. Decisions, decisions....
Yes I am doing the online Basics, and while the class may seem very accelerated the pass rate so far has been just shy of 100% so it can be done.I’m in the same boat (haven’t been called yet). Hello everyone I was wondering if yall could give me an answer
So a few weeks ago I was told that there a good possibility I could have hyperthyroidism. But they weren't sure if it was hyper or hypo.
Now question is I'm set to start online classes in couple of weeks. Since I don't know what's going on when do you report it? My doctor told me there wasnt anything to report expect I'm on a medication.
Clearly I will report that. I'm just worried about losing my medical. Has anyone been through this
Check out the basics study guide available in the forums. I did not have time to review all of the lessons, but it has been spot on for the basics class thus far. I have previous aviation experience, and bought it to see what would be covered.I’m in the same boat (haven’t been called yet). I’ve flip flopped on both options several times at this point. Probably for the next bid that will be true. But they have already given people the option to wait and take basics at the academy. So for this bid it will at least still be an option not to take it online as of right now.I'd anticipate online basics becoming permanent. It's a lot harder, but we're passing. It's cheaper on the FAA (no housing or per diem,) goes by a lot faster and lessens the burden on the physical campus. They're finding out it works, expect it to stay.
You do not understand how the FAA works. They change rules at the drop of a hat. They don't care.Probably for the next bid that will be true. People that opt for an in person class will probably sit around for 6 months, and then be forced to take it online anyways. You do not understand how the FAA works. They change rules at the drop of a hat. They don't care.
Lol he really doesn't even though countless people have told him.You do not understand how the FAA works. They change rules at the drop of a hat. They don't care.
I don’t understand why anyone would opt out of just starting online. I promise, you’re not missing out on anything by not attending an in person class. Unless you’re just really dying to meet the nice lady who runs the mediocre snack bar in the Basics building.
You can start your FAA seniority clock, begin earning annual/sick leave, medical benefits, retirement contributions and you’d be collecting a paycheck all while sitting at home watching a slideshow on an iPad. You don’t have to even go through the hassle of moving to Oklahoma yet.
Hell, we don’t even know what’s going to happen at the end of this budget year. You’d obviously have a better chance of surviving budget cuts if you’ve been on boarded and you’re an employee vs. if you’re just waiting on an in person class date that might never come. Not to mention our contract expires next year and who knows whats going to happen if a certain someone gets reelected.
If only I was as enlightened as the almighty and noble alphawiskey. Maybe someday!Lol he really doesn't even though countless people have told him.
