I went through in 2017 and we passed 12/17. One of the better showings that year.

I guess I should remember suspenders but don’t. I remember the younger guy who had like a star wars tie or some shit. The older guy( he was cool) and then the larger guy(trying to be PC). The fourth is a complete gap in my memory.

Oh! That’s exactly what he did to me lol. I missed one letter of a call sign and an airplane not even in the problem responded. He ended up nailing me for like 20 points because of it.

The suspenders guy retired at the end of 2016.
There's been a decent amount of turnover in evaluators. The dude with the Star Wars tie became like the #1 or #2 guy at the Academy last year.
The really big guy retired in 2018.
There's other people that are certified to evaluate that are in other roles at the academy, and fill in on an as-needed basis.
Funny, some people say they didn't have any issues with him and they graded them fairly. YMMV.
And some people so the earth is flat. YMMV.

But seriously, i don't know why everyone paints that guy as some bad dude. He's probably not a lenient as some people but if you attempt to work the problem and not horse around and try to beat it or outsmart it, it's really not that bad. Worry less about the evaluators and more about working the problem. If you can't handle the academy or suspenders you have 0 business in the field anyways.
I could see that, but the success rate at the academy both pre-suspenders and post is justifying enough. Also, what douche tags 20 points for transposing.
I mean... there are many more factors in the pass rate class to class, month to month, year to year than just one evaluator... you people act like it's some damn conspiracy theory at the academy of "ruining people's lives." They don't care, frankly. They're just doing a job, it's not personal.

Yeah he wrote it up for some wild shit like airspace violation and not maintaining aircraft ID. Which I would get if I fucked it completely up but I misidentified one part of the call sign and some completely random plane responded.
Lot of issues in the world with people just doing a job and not caring.
When he was around the pass rates were around 50% consistently, compared to these days there isn't the consistency.

And it didn’t make sense to cut that many people loose at the academy. If someone demonstrates they can be trained on air traffic send them to a facility and let them train on the real thing. Fucking someone over that makes a mistake or two talking to a robot doesn’t make sense to me. We had a few people in my class that for sure could have checked out at a lower tower and they got sent home because of a couple mistakes that turned out bad for them.
