Just verifying, you had been brought back to maintain currency before your first 120 day date, I assume? My partner was already up in R school when the sky fell, and wasn't allowed back in to prevent the lapse. She's really frustrated and I keep hoping to hear something hopeful from someone in a similar position. Sounds like you didn't make it all the way to lapse, though...

correct. I came in twice to recertify. the last time was a couple weeks before I came back for good.

Do you know if they just approved a waiver to have trainees brought back or everyone on EA.

it wasnt even to have trainees in the building. there are a handful of us who have all of our D sides, and putting us on the schedule can prevent our facility from going back to BWS. so they asked for the 5 of us to be allowed in to work traffic and stay 5/5

My Z was approved to start recalling trainees back in October, and I was scheduled to come back in last Monday. I ended up getting exposed to Covid so I had to stay home, that ends this Friday. However, my county has now been orange for almost 3 weeks now and my facility is supposed to stop the recall this week.
I asked my training manager if the stopping of the recall would affect me coming back in, and she said no, that since I had an official recall date I can still come back in. Does this sound correct to you guys? With how backed up our flight surgeon is, it doesn't seem like I'd get the approval to come back until next week when the recall will be shut off.
Just want to make sure I'm not getting my hopes up for going back in when they're just going to change their minds again.

Might depend on the facility and/or other specifics. My partner had an official recall date, but was postponed pending a 120 day lapse waiver - and when that turned out to be a pipe dream, it was then postponed pending training resumption. She's still at home, now pending metrics that keep looking worse and worse.

It was only touched on briefly, nothing really of note other than they're planning to say something about them this week or next. Only mentioned here because it shows they are discussing plans, but plans are known to wildly change.

Have you been on Sick Leave or EA?
Probably doesn't matter either way, but I'm curious what status you've been in.
If it's sick leave, there's a strong case to be made that you've been recalled already. If it's EA, I imagine it'd be the same reasoning, but all the other trainees that haven't been recalled are also on EA. So a case could be made (weakly) that you're not recalled yet.
But yes, I believe your training manager is correct.

Funny thing is, there are two people that have high BMI, but don’t want to be at home. One because he likes his differentials and the other because he doesn’t want to be home with his family(2 kids with a prego wife). If I was unhealthy, I would have gladly taken that last 9 months off.

My facility & NATCA aren’t going to budge off of the Harvard map MOU in favor of a different plan to get trainees back either, regardless of vaccinations or negative testing within the facility. They’re still saying it’s the FAA that doesn’t want us back, but it’s also the FAA that doesn’t want to pay us to sit at home.
I’m not the first one to say it, but I’m in a different region than the other person in the PNW that received the same info.

Kinda doubt it's as "arbitrary" as you think, but when the threshold for "red" is >25 daily new cases per 100k and a fair portion of the country is well north of 100 daily new cases per 100k... I'd err on the side of keeping people home.

Ya let’s keep all the trainees home unless the county the facility is in has less than 0.0009% of people positive for Covid for two straight weeks. The facilities seem to be doing just fine not infecting themselves, oh wait..

We have to have emails every month reminding everyone to wear a damn mask. Why can’t we do what every other business is doing? Temp and symptom checks before you go to work, actual punishments for not wearing a mask, etc. ACTUAL PREVENTATIVE MEASURES. Instead, we’ll spend millions of dollars on level three cleanings days after a positive case.

I’m not saying “bring all the trainees back” is the answer, but clearly something needs to change on how we’re handling this going forward.
