Hiring Bid Air Traffic Control Specialist - Trainee: FAA-ATO-18-ALLSRCE-57792

I learned from the military, honesty is not the best policy. Just explain it was an isolated incident and you've never touched the devils lettuce since
I dunno, I disclosed regular/habitual use in college and I got a conditional clearance, to my great surprise. Though I did (truthfully) say that I haven't used in 2+ years—that might be a big factor.

Is this only for active military? I was reserves the whole time and did not sign up as a military member.
I was reserves too but I deployed a few times. You may want to reach out to your HR POC and see if they want your medical records, even if you didn't fall under Pool 1.

If you do not qualify for a conditional clearance, how much time does that typically add to your security clearance?

Do any of the experience folks on here have the updated breakdown(with number of TOL’s offers) for this bid? I think someone said they were posted internally, but last numbers I saw were pre shutdown

For those of you that received a CIL and went through the process of medical, MM-PI2, drug, etc. Were you able to schedule the dates for when you went in for your medical, psych and drug test? If so, how far in advance could you schedule it? Or was it already pre-scheduled for you and you had to arrive on those dates? I am leaving on a trip for a few weeks and am worried I will receive a CIL during the time and be given appointments that I can't make. Of course this job is more important than any trip, so willing to cancel it if I have to but I hope I don't since it's a trip to Mexico.

You make your own appointments. You can get them right away or in the future. As long as everything is completed within 90 days you are fine.

Wonder what "best qualified" even means (as far as scores)
Now that I think back over our conversation it seems I may have cut her off when she was explaining what the scores meant. I remember her mentioning something about band 1 and "best qualified" just before I cut her off to ask another question. This is pure speculation but it is possible she was about to say that "best qualified" is band 1 but I'm not sure. Maybe someone else should give them a call to find out....

Or it doesn't really matter and you should leave it alone.

So how did y'all hear about this job?

I know I’m like 10 pages behind in answering...but I had a notification from USAjobs. Before that, I’ve always loved anything to do with aviation, and in particular ATC. Never thought it was something a simpleton like me could even TRY for, but then I was having some beers with some friends and the conversation turned towards “dream jobs” and this has always been mine. Days went by and I started thinking “why not?”

Well, I haven’t received many, if any, of my clearances. But I’m stoked just to have made it to this point!

P.s. sorry to hear about your clearance, I hope it clears up soon!(as soon as government run operations can possibly go)

Asking again since this was probably missed:

Does Tier 2 refer to just failing the MMPI or does it mean basically any medical stuff that needs further evaluation?

Also anyone have any idea how long future evaluations would take/what the process is?
