Hiring Bid Air Traffic Control Specialist - Trainee: FAA-ATO-18-ALLSRCE-57792

Took my MMPI at a tower this morning. Really weird questions but took me less than an hour to finish. Then the guy was nice enough to give me a complete tour of the tower including the radar and top of the tower. It was so cool to finally get some first hand insight into this job. He gave an extremely in depth tour and answered a lot of the questions i had. All the people were extremely nice and I am more motivated than ever for this opportunity. I will be getting my drug test and fingerprinting done today and I will be finishing my e-quip and Med xpress tonight. That just leaves my Medical on Monday and I'll be done!

Did you guys go to a place that had special fingerprint cards? Or did you print out the ones provided? And what kind of paper did you print them on?

^ I got my fingerprints done at my local police station. Took my MMPI-2 today as well, and was finished in about 35 minutes. Now i'm worried I may have blitzed through it too quickly, but I answered it as much as it related to myself. They gave me a tour of the ATL center and it was pretty awesome to say the least. Very busy place with a lot going on.

Generally the shorter the better for the MMPI. Ensures you weren't overthinking it and trying to beat the test. There really is no reason it should take more than an hour total.

Wow you read fast, took me about 50 minutes to push through it.

Took me an hour and ten minutes and no tour damn it. I definitely contradicted myself on some I think.

Would you enjoy the work of a forest ranger? Yeah

Do you enjoy social gatherings?
Yeah

That’s one of the more harmless examples

Yeah I definitely had a few where I knew they were probably trying to ask the same thing, but the wording was so off putting and just felt like it became something else entirely. I hate those social questions too because I would prefer to be in smaller crowds or at home just watching shows, but I don't feel like I have trouble striking up a conversation with people randomly either.

How important do you think it is to add step siblings to the e-QIP?

My mom recently got married and I barely know my step siblings. I don't have their numbers and feel super weird asking for their birthdays, place of birth, and current addresses.

Dumb question:

For references on the SF86 would it be better to list someone who doesn't know me very well but speaks fluent english, as opposed to someone who does know me very well but speaks not-as-fluent conversational english? In case of phone calls.

Unfortunately my list of potential references is rather short, sorta scraping the bottom of the barrel here...

I struggled with this with some half-siblings that I've literally never met. But then I thought about the optics and the flow, and I figured:

When in doubt, disclose.

What did you guys put in the first blank of the DOT 1631? I'm assuming FAA but just want to make sure that's what its looking for.

Yeah, that's right. Mine came pre-filled with it saying Federal Aviation Administration. ?

My turn to ask a fun question. How, exactly, would one go about getting a copy of their SF-86 after they release it? I had a couple of additional questionnaires I had to fill out and I want to make sure it matches my paper copy and my downloaded copy is missing.

Is there any way to add something to your sf86 after you’ve released it? I decided not to put something on mine and now it’s driving me crazy.

My POC said that once I released it it was no longer amendable via e-QIP; they just had me send a PDF of my additional information and that they'd attach it to my file. Not sure if that's SOP for everybody, though.

From people not only FAA who have filled out a SF-86 they’ve always advised to list people who know you very well.

Hate it already. What kind of social gatherings? A party I don’t know anyone or a rock concert? A meet and greet isn’t my cup of tea but I don’t HATE it
