Hiring Bid Air Traffic Control Specialist - Trainee: FAA-ATO-18-ALLSRCE-57792

Theoretically housing providers could just collect the full amount from the FAA and run a deal where they pay you something like $15 a day cash to stay there.
They arent going to do that. These people are greedy and already make a killing off the government's dime.

Forgive my ignorance but could someone please explain the per diem thing? What is the "self pay" mentioned above? I was meaning to ask about how the per diem was typically paid out but its slipped my mind until seeing this - is it paid on a weekly basis? Biweekly? Do you get the full $95.xx automatically or do you need to provide some kind of housing proof/receipt? Do they send it as a check or..?

EDIT:
Air Traffic Control Specialist (ATCS) New Hire Information

This link seems to explain it, or at least how it works now? The way it's worded though makes it sound like they switch your rent from your personal credit card to their FAA one, so you're not actually paying (getting cash back on your card) and then being reimbursed. If it is changing, how would that be affected?

For those of us stuck in waiting limbo: does anyone else's CIL say 90 days to complete everything? I'm assuming that means 90 days to go to all the appts and fill out the SF-86 and all that stuff. It doesn't include waiting for the clearances to actually pass, right? lol

You need to finish everything on your end and get it to them within the 90 days, that's it. Everything on their end such as the clearances are irrelevant to that.

Yes 90 days to complete. Waiting for clearances can be 90-999 days.

Where you notified of your medical clearance in this time frame? I was told I didn't qualify on the conditional security clearance "at this time" but given absolutely ZERO details as to why, for how long, and what to do next. I'm trying to get answers now but of course my security POC is horrible at communicating. My credit score is in the 700s. I had my student loan in forbearance but finally on a income-based repayment plan. Still no word from whether or not i've been cleared. FRUSTRATING AS HELL

If you aren't granted a conditional clearance, it means they will complete the entire background check before they make a determination. A full background could take a year plus.

I never received any notification that I was medically cleared. However, I knew that my piss test was clean, and at the completion of my flight physical the Flight Doc said there were no issues (just a recommendation I lose weight, which I have been doing), so I was not concerned about anything medical.

Yeah I was aware it would be a while. The Navy taught me to always expect disappointment when dealing with the gov.

Some info for anyone else waiting on security clearance...

I received an email on March 6th asking to explain some of the items on my credit report, as well as a couple work write-ups I had listed on my SF86. I responded a couple days later. About a week after that I had a phone interview with OPM to explain it all again. And yesterday my security POC called me asking for the info again.

Ugh. See this is the kind of shit I worry about. I did the same thing you did, I got a call from a third party agency about some stuff on my credit report in the past (I have since fixed these issues and have a great credit score), but I haven't received any updates since the call in March.

Have you received medical clearance yet?
