Change in Status to those on Excused Absence (Proposal)?

The FAA sucked my love of aviation out of me harder than your SS BOOMER SOONER gonna suck money out of your wallet. But not as good as NE can suck. That's some good succ.
Was having this same conversation with a coworker earlier. FAA killed it for me and made me fucking hate people who think atc/airplanes is a personality type.

And the ss shit otter is going in the water this weekend getcha ass down and let's wreck some bar bathrooms

But is he thicc though?
He thicc enough. Got thick lips anyways

Doesn't apply to me, but the med retirement is interesting.... Like why would they be offering that for something that is more than likely a solvable issue in the next year to 18 months (vaccine) when we have an ongoing mass staffing issue?

If I were in that boat, I may be tempted to take the money and run and do something else to supplement the med retirement income. I can't say I do this for love of the work, and if I could do something else and maintain my standard of living you better believe I would.

That said, we should all be getting hazard pay to work, I don't see a way they can legitimately offer people hazard pay to come back, and not give it to those of us who have been working thru this thing, so that one sounds like a win to me, as it's contractually obligated and we should all be getting it to begin with.

Agree with all of this.

why the F has the military permanently banned anyone who has had Covd19??? That makes me wonder WTF they know???

I'd LOVE a FERS medical retirement. Go ahead Agencym make my day. givvvve me. 40% of high 3, 60% first year. Go off and work somewhere happy doing something fun? Charter captain in the Keys. Its actually extremely doable for controllers since so many things DQ you... the only shit part is it takes well over a year on average for the claim to be adjudicated, and the whole time you are that loser in your facility doing nothing and getting paid (arguably worse than even a TMC , but close). I know multiple people (no controllers tho) who have got FERs medical retirement, although it seems they usually got denied the first time then approved on appeal. They hired specialist DC attorneys to make it happen as well.

The lack of talk or action on hazard pay from NATCA is odd to me. Its clear theyre putting there eggs in the Congressional basket and hoping a piece of the Dem house 4.0 stimulus proposal gets through... but i havent been able to figure out why theyre unwilling to publically fight for it. Maybe its as simple as bad PR in dark times during a pandemic, but i still think its BS. SO you are on the contract team.... you get the HAzard Pay article done... what exactly are you thinking would qualify for it!???? A goddam Russian invasion like in RED DAWN and we all become Wolverines when your TRACON is under siege by russian mercenaries!??? Cuz it sure as shit aint a pandemic appurrrrently

Specifically from the article: "given the limited research on COVID-19, there are likely a few factors that military medical professionals are trying to hash out when it comes to recruiting survivors: Whether respiratory damage from the virus is long-lasting or permanent, and whether that can be assessed; the likelihood of recurring flare-ups, even if someone has had two consecutive negative tests; and the possibility that one bout of COVID-19 might not provide full immunity for the future, and could potentially leave someone at a higher risk to contract it again, perhaps with worse complications."

Nope. I would be thankful sitting at home, being paid to do nothing.

You know who should be pissed? The people at the academy 1-2 weeks away from graduation who were sent home making $12 an hour for the foreseeable future and may have to restart okc over again.

But honestly... nobody should be pissed. Covid wasnt a choice aside from the way it was handled by your boss in D.C.
So he handled it poorly? Please explain.

understood but PERMANENTLY? dude at least 25-50% of ppl are asymptomatic. 60-70% of the nation will probably eventually be infected (unless a miracle vaccine emerges). Permanently is big.

The article goes on to say that even a "permanent" DQ can be appealed on a case-by-case basis, but on the face of it (not having any military experience myself) I would guess this is a stop-gap guidance. Like you said, a huge chunk of the nation is projected to get it. I doubt they keep it like this forever.

Survivors. The lucky 99.5%

I mean, I hope it's 99.5. You can take different subsets of data and range from 99.88 all the way down to around 85% (cough cough Italy cough cough). It's obviously not 85%, but you can use that number to push an agenda and you wouldn't technically be lying.

Well with the atc age group is def 99.XX

What are the qualifications to bring trainees back that are being thrown around? I saw the june 15th extension but what are we looking to see. An uptick in traffic, or is this or is OJT out until the cdc relaxes social distancing recommendations in which case see you guys again next year. Debating whether to renew lease or go live back w fam at this point. You would think faa would have a phase 1 phase 2 kind of thing like states are publishing but maybe asking a bit much.

No one knows. Its ridiculous and they aren’t telling us shit.

There is a Phase 1, 2 and 3. Just no dates associated with it. Also no mention of what it takes to meet each phase.

Who needs phases when they can just permanently say we are on "recall status". They just dangle that over us and boom, it's a blanket answer and can prevent them from having to provide dates or timelines.

Interestingly, I and other trainees at my fac were told on the day of us being sent home that if we leave town we are supposed to use leave. I've heard from other trainees at other facilities nothing was even mentioned about leaving town and using leave. Not sure if it was supposed to be common knowledge that would be the case or what.

We were told originally we could be recalled. That was well before the 5/10 5/5.
Since then we haven't even heard from management nor has Natca really sent any trainee specific emails. Just CCd us on the emails about the new schedule. No one has said anything about leaving town. At a center for reference.

Cool i would love to hear about this. Maybe natca could like bring us in the loop.

I was told we are recallable to the point that I could technically be called in mid day between 0700-1530. Which I’m not arguing since they are paying me.
