So I got this from Aviation Careers about reinstatement:

To apply for reinstatement please follow the listed guidance:
**Selection/Assignment placement is based on need of the agency. Selection and facility placement is not guaranteed. **
Reinstatement applicants must have CPC status.
Submit full application package and certifications to facility manager of choice, unless separated within 6 months, then must apply to location where separated. Facility manager will route application package as necessary. Application package must include:
• Resume
• Copies of certifications
• SF 50 original Appointment
• SF 50 completion of probationary period
• SF 50 Separation
For copies of these documents, you must request through https://www.archives.gov/
Prior training failure at any level may constitute basis for non-selection.

• Meet age requirements (some exemptions/provisions apply)
• Medical requirements

So you don't really get to pick your facility? So this is just a new way to apply for reinstatement but ultimately they still tell you where you are going?

I'm confused how you got that? It says right in there submit to facility manager of choice.

All that first sentence is saying is that selection is not guaranteed

Hence the question mark part. ....plus talked to some management and union representatives it appears it works that way. I think it's so new no one really knows.

Of the two people I know that were picked up off this, both were selected for the facilities they applied to.

It's so they can offer a jorb if you try to apply for someplace with no openings. You get to ask for the facility you want, and if it can be accommodated then you will get it. If you apply to someplace that's 20 people overstaffed, you won't get it.

So I'm trying to get my SF-50's so I can apply under this. I sent the written request to the National Records Center but got a mail back that they don't have my SF-50's. Any ideas? I left the FAA in February 2017

It appears I'm getting a recommendation and my reinstatement package will go up to ATO. I'll update in this thread for anyone else wondering about how the process works.

From reading jaydogdubai's posts it looks like it'll be a 4-6 month process, possibly up to 9 months until EOD.

What do they redo when you're rehired? I'm getting my medical clearance on my own (personal reasons). Do they redo the MMPI or since I've done it and passed it doesn't need to be redone? What about background? I've been out about 4 years, on DOL/OWCP benefits, only separated 2 years ago though so technically only gone about 2 years. Basically what can I expect? Thanks for the info.

Have you heard anything at all since getting your recommendation? Looks like you're at 3 months so far? I haven't heard anything, including whether I even got a recommendation or not...

Yes. The ATM or DM can make the recommendation. The ATMs recommendation is all that’s needed. All HR cares about is if there is a recommendation to hire, but I don’t know what would happen if the two disagreed.

I don’t think there’s going to be a standard timeline for this. When I did it, the DM had my package the same week I submitted. Then you would enter the normal clearance process.

I don't think they have to. Here's the excerpt from the OI (emphasis added)

Air Traffic Managers (ATMs)/District Managers (DMs): ATMs or DMs interested in hiring a former CPC who is reinstatement eligible must provide the candidate’s job application package, with a recommendation to hire, to the appropriate ATO Service Center point of contact for submission to the Technical Onboarding Team (AJG-P23). AJG-P23 supplies job application packages to the Office of Human Resource Services, Aviation Careers Branch (AHF-C420) who ensures selection viability and extends job offers.
