I tried both suggestions with no success.
I managed to copy the printouts just before the program closed completely. Here are the results. I'll try the command prompt method next.
I assume I have to save the Excel file after filling it, but if that's the case, I'm not sure how to change it from read-only to enable editing and save it with a name/directory that will be recognized by the program.

Yeah you definitely have to be able to save the excel file after you edit it. It seems that the program says it’s missing altogether. I was able to recreate this error by trying to edit the file within the .zip directory and run the program.

When you download the package, make sure you’ve extracted it before editing the xlsx file. After opening the downloaded .zip file, go to the top and click “extract all”, or right click on an empty space within the file explorer and click “extract all”. Once you do that, edit the file within the new directory that doesn’t have the .zip at the end. If you are editing the excel file within the .zip it won’t be able to be saved.

Alright, extracting worked. Thanks for the help and the program!

I love that you made this. Navigating this form is a pain in the butt. If I could make a feature request: Can you add an option to pick the type of position you're trying to ERR to? Some people want to ERR to a TMC position or back to an ATCS position.

As an update, I've checked some USAJOBS announcements for TMC positions; they're mostly the same as ERR's, but different enough its causing me a little trouble. The generator wasn't made with the idea of applying for individual announcements, so some changes need to be made to accommodate that. I just got back from vacation, so I'll start on it in the next couple of days. As a conservative estimate, I'd say it'll take me at least a couple of weeks to get it posted, but I'll update you if anything changes!

southwest416 updated ERR Generator with a new update entry:

Update 09/28/2022

The following changes were added:
  • Added a new "Facilities History" sheet that contains a history of known level and type changes and effective dates. This sheet will later be used to dynamically determine a facility's historic type and level in the work history portion of the generator instead of using the current type/level.
  • Facility level's for desired facilities are determined more dynamically now by comparing the facility level as listed in the KSN facility list with a more...

Looking to send ERR packages... I don't have access to the KSN site listed in the instructions. No one at my facility can seem to clarify or allow access. How is one supposed to gain access? Granted I can dig around and find respective email addresses, but it would be nice to have a directory of the agency I work for...

There used to be information on the NATCA site as well.

I've sent you a PM with the current NCEPT region phone and fax numbers.

As far as logging into KSN, honestly I couldn’t tell you how to gain access; mine just had it automatically. When you go to ksn2.faa.gov make sure you select “FAA” under select domain name, then log in with your FAA username and password, should be the same you use for email/cedar/etc. (don't use your email “[email protected]” for username, use just the name “john a doe”)

If that doesn’t work, I’m not sure who the POC is to get it fixed. Maybe someone with more knowledge could comment on it. I’d personally try FAA MyIT line and see if they know (1-844-FAA-MyIT ( 322-6948 ))

I’m still trying to figure out why we’re faxing in 2022 going on 2023.

This process could’ve been an online submission to a database YEARS ago. But, like any government job, we decide to live in the past. Ha.

Just used this to generate 16 ERR packages. THANK YOU!! As someone who is not very tech savvy at all, I had no hope of ever creating something like this myself. This was super easy and quick to use. Only one minor error in the autofill....SDF is in the Southern region, not Southwest or whatever was assigned to it. But I just went in and manually fixed each page in the packages to show it. Thanks again!
Pls don’t be that person to turn something down cuz you suddenly don’t like the area you applied to.

The eastern region used to list their email address in the ncept POC table on KSN, but they removed it this round. Think it was too difficult for them?

I've had success just sending a direct email to the POCs listed. Someone on here said that you should encrypt the email because one of the forms includes your SSN and the HR people can get snitty about accepting a non-encrypted email.

Nice! I appreciate the work you put in to this project. I submitted an ERR packet but changed it to be "TMC" for the position. No one has been able to answer if this is allowed or not so I just decided to submit it and see if HR takes it. I'll report back with the results.

TMC is a bid position, not ERR.

TMC is a bid position, not ERR.
Yeah, I know that's the way they're normally filled, but they're both covered by the same process in A42 S5. "Employees desiring consideration for placement to a specific bargaining unit position at a specific facility..." There's no consensus from management or natca about if that applies to transferring between bargaining units from the people I've asked. There's also bids for controller positions at some facilities. In the end, it costs me nothing to make the attempt and see how it works out so that's what I did.

We have a TMC that got in on ERR not a USA jobs bid. He explained to me you can just ERR as charlie_mike is doing.

southwest416 updated ERR Generator with a new update entry:

Update 10/07/2022

The following changes were added:
  • Added functionality to support ERR to and from MSS-1 & TMC positions.
  • Added functionality to support generating the 3330-43-1 document for individual USAJOBS announcements.
  • Minor error-handling enhancements.
  • Removed the functionality to attach a supervisor's signature image. Option to attach a signed 3330-43-1 page remains, but users are ADVISED AGAINST attaching a document that has been signed by a rating official (supervisor or...

Feature has been added in this version. Very little QA was done on my part so please let me know if you find any bugs!

Sweet! Nice to know I'm not crazy lol

Thanks! Potential bug: It looks like if you try to generate an ERR to multiple positions at the same facility the program will only generate one packet for the last position entered in the desired facilities block.

southwest416 updated ERR Generator with a new update entry:

BUGFIX Release: ERR Generator v2022.10.08

The following changes were added:
  • BUGFIX: Facility IDs in work history are now automatically capitalized prior to generation.
  • BUGFIX: "Vacancy Position Title" in 3330-43-1 now correctly reflects the desired position instead of always displaying "Air Traffic Control Specialist"
  • BUGFIX: Users may now generate multiple ERRs for the same facility for different roles (e.g. CPC & TMC), and the generator will notate each file for the selected role if duplicates exist. (bug cred...

Good catch, thank you! Fixed in this update.
