Hiring Bid FAA-ATO-21-ALLSRCE-73599

The level of impatience from a lot of people in this thread really is hilarious - it’s clear many of them have never dealt with the Federal Government before. I’ve never heard of an applicant being removed from the process because they failed to receive confirmation of their confirmation of a TOL. If you responded and you have a copy in your outbox, you’re fine. Going days, or even weeks without hearing from an HR rep is not unusual at all. People just need to chill and realize they are still in the very early stages of a very lengthy process.

I work for the government and I hate their speed. I understand it, but I hate it. I tolerate it for the job security, pension, and TSP. In the end, the government jobs are the best once they are secured.

It's honestly so embarrassing. Anyone who is contacting HR for updates or asking them about the freaking confirmation already is just slowing down the process for the rest of us. And then you have people who seem to live on this forum and have no social awareness. (^) Like no one needs to hear every opinion you have on every topic that's brought up, especially when it's full of speculation. I swear some people just love to hear the sound of their own keyboard.

People say to be patient, but it's hard not to get a little bothered when others are already a few steps ahead, and your HR rep hasn't done jack yet.

I sound salty af, but I would be kissing CG's feet rn because they're so communicative with their applicants. Btw, I'm using "their" because I dunno CG's name or pronouns.

Comparing your experience to anyone else’s is a mistake in it of itself. Everyone’s experience is going to be different, some people will move through quickly, others will be forced to wait seemingly for no reason. Is it fair? No, but again that’s just how working for the Govt. works, and it doesn’t change when you’re past the hiring process. If you get upset/anxious that other people are apparently receiving better treatment than you, you’re in for a very long and frustrating career with the agency.

I have CG- always been helpful. But the deal is everyone's process won't be at the same speed. You have your TOL, you'll eventually make it provided you get your clearances. Unfortunately, you can only go as fast as your TOL and CIL are sent out. This aint the type of job where you apply and you have your interview the next day and start the week after. If you read comments in other hiring threads, you'll see everyone's process is wildly different, some went to the academy right away, others had hold ups for medical/security/MMPI. Believe me I've been going through this process for multiple years, it sucks but there's nothing I can do but keep waiting. With a huge amount of people from 2020 still waiting, don't be surprised when you clear that you won't hear anything regarding a class date for months.

I'm with you on that.

I'm not upset about others receiving better treatment. I'm just upset that other reps seem to work more efficiently than others. Is this particularly true? It might be. It might not. I'm aware that I'm not privy to what my HR rep deals with on a daily basis that may have priority. All I'm saying is that, at least from a distance, SV seems to be less efficient and communicative than CG, for example.

Also, I've read old hiring threads on this site, and past applicants have also mentioned SV's lack of communication skills. Btw, it's not like I'm expecting daily or weekly email updates and the like. All I'm saying is when you hear other applicants' experiences, how their reps are on it and let them know where they are in the process and what's next, it results in some understandable frustration.

I also know everyone's timeline is going to look a little different from here on out. But barring unforeseen circumstances, there's no reason, at least in my mind, why some HR reps can't keep up the pace with others in the initial stages of the hiring process, especially when it comes to sending an email to fill out some online forms to get the ball rolling.

Wow.... everything ClearanceClarence has told you is true and its only tenfold at the facility. Are you going to complain when another trainee gets more sessions than you, or works the better traffic than you, or that your supervisor/training team just isn't being as efficient and communicative as your coworker's? You're not taking any of the advise that actual controllers are giving you and you're going to make yourself miserable before you're even a FAA employee. Just relax and live your life. The hiring process is long, complicated, and unfair. Get used to it. The training process is worse.

This is a valid concern, that’s just the life of a government employee. Unfortunately there is no way around it. We are not in the FAA yet, so there is no need to suffer yet. ?

Some people like to see others suffer just because they have in their past experiences. Best of luck to you!

Folks enjoy the fact you have a TOL. You practically are going to head to OKC at some point unless something flags a conditional clearance or medical.

People complaining about other people having more communicative HR reps are the ones sitting on this forum looking to see the latest approval someone gets. If you’re going to get jealous about others making progress you probably shouldn’t be logging on here multiple times a day checking to see which HR initials sent out EODS stuff.

Enjoy the time before you head off to start the journey, when the bus starts rolling you will not stop stressing till the day you leave MMAC.

At this point, I just keep coming back to see people complaining and asking if they should send a follow up email the day after they send their TOL back. I find it amusing lol.

I have CG and just received my confirmation a few hours ago. Yours will come and not everyone will have the same experience with every rep.

Man suck it up and deal with it. You want to hear unfair? My friend and I applied together and he got enroute and I got terminal, meaning he's gonna be making nearly double from me if/ when we both certify. He got his class date for 4 months earlier than I did. We both had our class dates moved 6+ months because the academy shut down during the beginning of covid. Every single one of my classmates is at least halfway through training and I haven't started yet, and we graduated a year ago. The FAA isn't fair so learn to deal with it.

You guys want to hear unfair? I went to White Castle on my third break today to get some lunch. The person who ordered AFTER me got their food BEFORE me. What gives?! Do these people not understand my life and thousands of other lives are in jeopardy because I didn't get my food when I should've?!

Seriously guys, be patient, crying and having a pity party does nothing. There are people from the 2018 bid just now getting classes. Relax.
