Figuring out last day of class

I'm looking at this course catalog, trying to determine the last day for a given class.

FAA Catalog of Training
For example, the basics class that begins on 2018-04-16 ends on 2018-05-18. Simple enough.

Then following through to initial, there is one that begins on 2018-05-18 and ends on 2018-08-13. Is the corresponding initial class? I guessed the initial would start on the 19th if basics ends on the 18th.

If so, is 2018-08-13 the last day for evaluations or would it be the placement day? If it's the last day for evaluations, it's a Monday so that means the two evaluation days for this class are split by the weekend?

Well initial en rote is 59 days. Day 59 being the second day of evals. Then any holidays you won’t have class on. The initial clas number will be one nimbler higher than the basics class it is paired with.

If you're looking for your class, the last day is given in the email stating your class date

Is the "placement day" an entire day? As in you have to be at MMAC a day after the class actually ends?

My class finished friday and had to come back monday to place. Placement only takes like 2 hours then they say you are free to research your new facility. Almost everyone started the drive back home in the morning after we chose.

Yah. They give you the night to figure it out since you won’t knos the final order until the end of the evals.

The schedule is set up so that PAs are 3 days for tower and 2 days for enroute. Then placement is the entire next day. If needed, PAs can get pushed into their placement day. On the other hand, it's happened in tower where PAs get condensed into 2 days so that placement happens on day 3 (usually when the class loses an entire day for weather or shutdowns and the missed runs can't be made up in the allotted time...so PAs effectively happen on the scheduled days 2 and 3.)

I mean idk. En route class is 59 days and if your still employeed it’s just the next day. However I think you still get academy pay that day, so I guess it’s a scheduled class day.

Yes scheduled class day. Your travel day is the day after placement.

It counts as an entire day for work purposes, but if your looking at the catalog the “end date” is the last day of Evals, NOT placement day. Normally, after your last day of Evals, the next day is placement day, and the day after that is your travel day. The FAA can makes changes if need be but that is the norm.
