These lists are the biggest middle finger to those of us that have been stuck at our 5-7s for a decade or more. Its absolutely maddening
It definitely is but part of the reason it came about is that no one was putting in for the 8s and 9s, they were going straight to a 10, 11, or 12.

If the FAA mad a 3 or 4 level jump max with NCEPT it probably would have fixed some of it. But most those mid level facilities historically got no trainees from the academy and no one transferring in via NCEPT. So even though there are a handful of people that would love to get to a few of them and weren't releasable, you can't just let those facilities die while receiving 1 trainee every year or two.

100%

And every time a level cap is brought up, someone from a 5 who has been in for 2 years starts screeching about how unfair it is.

And then continue to get mad that they send academy folks to a level 8 or 9 despite that they only have in for a level 12 😂

I know there's obviously exceptions and it does suck for people that would kill to get a DAL or MDW or something like that

And DAL and MDW are full of people that want DFW and ORD. Its basically an endless cycle of angry.

I know someone at a level 5 in bumfeck nowhere with zero chance to leave in the near future. He would give his left nut and sign away any future NCEPT attempts if he could go to MDW (he's from Palos Heights for those in the Chicagoland area). There's a lot of people out there in similar situations. Some empathy wouldn't hurt bro.

There definitely are a lot of people and I know a bunch too but the reality is the vast majority all put in to jump level 8s and 9s because they know they will be there the rest of their career and they can also just go straight to a level 12 instead.

They should have level caps to force progression through the levels. Either way it sucks for those people that want out and would go to a level 8 especially when a brand new academy grad goes there

You should just move up a level on the pay bands after you spend 7 years at a facility

Honestly, it doesn't matter. Those low-level bf nowhere facilities are never going to be eligible to release. So whether they put in for an 8/9 or a 12, doesn't matter (unless it's N90, C90, etc.)

A long time ago, I was hoping to get a low-level tower and "work my way up to ORD", being from the Chicagoland area. Fate intervened and I was assigned enroute and no-one took ZAU ahead of me. Since then I've told dozens of ATC wannabes to go en-route. You are legitimately better off getting stuck at ZOA or ZNY making $300k+/yr than some of these truly horrific low-level hellhole towers and up/downs barely breaking 6 figures. With the new placement rules, there's almost no reason to go terminal IMO

The additional “priority” release facilities are the nail in the coffin for anyone trying to transfer out of a perpetually short staffed place. You will never ERR to a facility like MDW from there. Looks like they are on the C90 fast track.

Cant tell if serious.....

Initial Qualifications for Terminal RADAR
It has been asked a dozen fucking times and this is the first time I've seen anyone comment what that shit stands for.

Also I put in for about 14 different level 9 up downs and I'm still trapped because ncept releases to the 11s and 12s when you do get a release, not to the 9s

Resignation timer has already started for me though so fuck it let the ship sink IDGAF any more. My pension isn't worth shit if I stay so I'm giving up health insurance and TSP access... Whatever

TSP isn’t even special anymore

Everyone who is talking about level caps for transfer are absolutely ridiculous. So it should be up to the luck of draw on whether or not you get sent to a 10,11, or 12 Z fresh out of the academy but if you get terminal and go to a 4,5, or 6 you should be capped and take a decade minimum to get to a 12 when considering training and transfer times? If you get assigned a low level facility off the rip you should have the opportunity to go to a high level. Many do and many are making it through training successful. I do agree changes need to be made to help the mid level facilities but limiting our transfer power is idiotic.
