MMPI-2 Tier 2 Process

I was flagged for answering too perfect too he said and I have my appointment next week. I’m nervous because this is the only job I want and been waiting for a long time. I have to retake MMPI, his test and a general discussion. I’m praying it’s easy and I get the green light

Congratulations to everyone who's moving along.

I think I've reached a point where I'm done with this process. January 2021 I was notified I was going to be put into Tier 2, and February 2021 I had my medical appointment. The doctor said I had an enlarged liver, so I've spent the last year (thankfully I have good insurance, but dozen of doctors appointment copays and travel does cost money) doing every test possible to prove that I don't, and every time I submit something I get an e-mail back asking for something else. I really feel like they're just playing games at this point, because they're bouncing all over the place with what they keep requesting.

I just hope this doesn't effect me in the future when I go to get my medical for a PPL.

Horrible news. I was just officially DQ’d due to “maladaptive personality traits” along with my MMPI results and other findings during their investigation. I will have the chance to appeal but results aren’t guaranteed. RIP my FAA dreams

Feeling super down, if anyone has any advice on appeals please share. I was told I will have the chance to get a HIMS pysch to take a look at me and resubmit my package to DC. I’ve been a controller for 9 years in the military and private contractor now. Not sure where to go from here

Damn dude I’m really sorry to hear that.

So you did not clear the tier 2 at all?

I think you have a good shot at an appeal because it’s “personality” based.

DoD is still an option and in a lot of ways, a better one. Right now there are 19 openings on USAJOBS. Gs11-12 is the way to go. I hope this helps.

Happens man. I guess the pysch team in Washington DC decided my MMPI answers along with some past events makes me "mentally unfit" to do the job. I'm definitely going to appeal, but I'm not getting my hopes up. Just wanted to pass along to people here that the Tier 2 system is not a guaranteed pass even if you're a current controller.

Yeah, I'm looking into DoD heavily at this point. After sleeping on it, the main benefit the FAA provides is the pension. I make 90-100k working at an FCT and the schedule and traffic is cake. I'd take a small pay cut at first for DoD but the benefits are probably worth it long term.

just makes no sense to get cleared for the psychological portion of the medical clearance i.e. Tier 2 then get disqualified for a "personality" disorder....wtf was the point of the 6 hour psych appt then?

and looking back at your posts....it seems like you cleared tier 2 and 48 hours later you were disqualified??

I wasn't "cleared". My package had been pushed up and down the chain and I was being notified along the way. My posts and verbiage had the silly assumption that I would be green lighted once it reached the necessary people. I was called by phone yesterday by the one of the head doctors and he personally notified my the Tier 2 team had decided I failed the screening process. He explained the reasons why and also the appeals process.

I was DQ’d with that exact same reason. I got it overturned.
