One of my buddies interviewed before being hired at ZNY with my ops manager. They spent most of it laughing how crazy I was. He’s now a CPC at ZNY so I don’t put a lot of faith in the interview process…

I also taught him to BASE jump back in the day. 😂

Who are you to judge what someone hardships for? It’s an extremely long process that required a lot of documentation and you constantly talk out of your ass about it. Next time you want to talk shit about it why don’t you do it over my kids grandmothers grave you fucking piece of shit.

You say he's a CPC now like it's a bad thing. Getting certified at a level 12 center like New York is no joke. He obviously deserved to get hired because he has the skills needed.

It's not a Job where there are only 5 openings and 300 people interviewing. If you get to the interview phase of the process and you don't do anything dumb you deserve to pass.

Here’s the funny thing, the reason he applied was he met me skydiving and we had mutual friends.

He was like what do you do that you have extra time and money to have all these rigs and skydive and base jump?

I said ATC, and being single 😂 . He started to go to CTI but got hired off the street. I was in his wedding party about 10 years ago.

An actual long islander that was successful and wanted to be at ZNY. Unicorn!

Step one for clearing a better way through the academy is revamping the way they evaluate. Ditch the contractor's and the point system, go back to receiving facilities sending out supervisors/NATCA reps to evaluate whether they want someone or not.

Plenty of people who are actually capable of this job are washed for no reason.

So instead of 50k people applying, you get 200k people. How will the FAA pick the quality applicants from the less qualified ones? A rocket scientist could apply to an open bid and he still has the same lottery chance of getting picked for the thousand slots.

If only they had a robust set of screening tools they used to evaluate candidates but lowered the scoring thresholds to increase diversity (which they did, 2012 barrier analysis)

If you have 200k applicants, and you need say 5000 hires, you jack the passing scores required up to filter out 80-90% and take the best of the best

I did fight night in college at my fraternity back in the day. I got an undiagnosed concussion. I thought they said ‘end’ and the guy had actually said ten to count down to zero and I dropped my gloves.
