The woeful unpreparedness of Management

The FAA isn't even doing social distancing. Your health only counts if you're totally unusable. This is all a charade, controllers aren't even allowed to self quarantine once exposed. So in that context I don't see why not go back to normal. Let Rome burn and at least the billionaires to profit off of it! Murica

You say this like it's sarcasm but it's 100% the truth. Either this thing is unstoppable or it's not as big of a deal as the media portrays it. Look at the facts, we can't even test everybody, senators aren't even social distancing (maybe they will now), the FAA doesn't appear to have a concrete direction they're willing to take, and there's not enough police to enforce people only going out for necessities. How long do you want to sit around and play 'tank the economy + get coronavirus'. We can prevent one of those from happening at least.

It IS unstoppable, but the difference between having everybody get it in a month and having everybody get it in a year is literally millions of deaths.

Our media didn't force complete lockdowns in parts of China or huge chunks of Europe. They didn't do that to stick it to Trump either. Their economies have taken/are taking huge hits because of their actions to contain the spread of the virus. Our incompetent leadership having absolutely no clear messaging has nothing to do with that.

Maybe. But you are assuming that what we are doing is mitigating the spread, and we have no evidence of that (yet). How long can you reasonably expect people to stay in lockdown? What if in 3 weeks from, we see EXACTLY the same growth rate as we do now? Then it will have all been for nothing.
It’s impossible to know what the other outcome would have been either way you do it.

There's going to be a 1-2 week delay in seeing results due to the incubation period between getting infected and testing positive. Italy went into lockdown 14 days ago. Its rate of increase of cases has dropped to 8%/day compared to 20%+/day before the lockdown.

Also, you are assuming that if we just bite the bullet and let everyone get infected quickly and possibly have millions die due to a total collapse of the healthcare system, the economy wouldn't tank. I'd like to see an economy with 5% fewer consumers in it.

Pass legislation that people can’t be charged interest, late fees, liens, etc. from banks for three months. Tell everyone to stay home for two weeks and have this thing end.

Britain had the glorious idea of letting this burn through their population unchecked to do as little harm to the economy as possible. Someone intelligent got through to Boris Fucking Johnson and they shitcanned that idea and have just locked down the entire country.

There are rumors that Trump is going to shitcan the only person telling him that we need to lockdown. Fox News Grandpa is going to listen to what the people on the TV tell him to do and the right wing is rapidly coalescing behind just letting people die. This is going to get worse and it's going to happen quickly as the federal government runs around like a headless chicken. The economy is already fucked and we've basically already thrown all of the available options at it. Just letting people die is not the correct option.

The White House briefing FAA Management on what it expects...

Let's say it was a brand new trainee OTS or whatever and they did it in this order. If they washed on radar, then they wouldn't even move them back to the tower to check out on LC, right? I mean why would they? They can't work at that facility now for washing on radar. But now that person didn't even earn a CTO. Would they at least NEST them to a tower to keep training? I dunno. But it seems like a way to fuck people. That's some straight up FAA mgmt shit right there.
