Hiring Bid FAA-ATO-20-ALLSRCE-65607

Recent email I got said 2-3 weeks and to plan accordingly.
2-3 weeks is accurate. And don’t necessarily expect the first paycheck to be a full two weeks pay. Also, there are taxes and other deductions, so just be prepared. About 27% of my check goes to taxes/deductions and I’m not enrolled in any benefit other than health insurance.

Alright, time to allow my hopes to marginally rise. May the odds be ever in your favor.
The gap is getting pretty tight. Seems like everyone else has had over a month to prepare. Nobody has gotten a November date yet (allegedly) and the first class is Nov 1.

5 en route and 2 terminal classes in November, so 58 slots to fill assuming that they haven't given any out yet. Fingers crossed that they start making the calls soon!

You think maybe they’re waiting until 10/1 due to a possible govt shutdown on the 30th?

Lol last time the government shut down I was referred and got halted and never moved forward. Wonder what the process is if you already have a TOL and cleared everything

I hope not. I feel like it would make more sense to jump on things now in the event that there is a shutdown, so that there's less scrambling to get stuff done afterwards. But I wouldn't put anything past the feds and their infinite wisdom.

I don't think the referred status is a guarantee of a TOL. Probably more of a sign that you passed the ATSA and were in the pool but just weren't chosen, but that's just my guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I worked at the academy during the last two shutdowns and had friends waiting on their dates and also friends as students.

They halt everything. If it’s for a day, then students just make up their days by cutting their breaks short. When we were out for 35 days, the whole place shut down and nothing was active. The students were sent home until they got called back. Anyone that was waiting for a date or any sort of update got pushed back like Covid but not by much. They made it work last shut down. Just don’t expect to hear from HR if it happens. They won’t be working and when it resumes they’ll be busy AF playing catch up.
