im not high on rinaldi, man. the whole reupping the contract thing + privatization talk, i am not high on rinaldi.
I get that nobody has a crystal ball and he couldn't have seen the massive inflation coming, but the timing seems so odd. And I feel our president needs to be fighting for more all the time. I mean controllers may look back and see this as a pivotal moment as to when this career took a turn for the worse. Why settle for less when we could get more?
Now we're in a horrible position where there could possibly be a republican president and we could get totally screwed in 2026 with the next contract. And we've been decimated by inflation for 3 years. We're caught with our pants down right now
Biden declared himself the most labor friendly president ever. Why did we not exploit that? Why are we not acting right now? Biden just gave a speech about the UAW strike saying how they deserve more of the profits. What about us? Amazon, UPS, all the airlines, they make money off our backs. We can't get a tiny cut of that?
Everything is negotiable at all times if you have the will to do it. As far as I'm concerned we should renegotiate the contract today and secure a pay bump for all controllers.
In the post covid inflationary US economy, 200k is the new 100k.
We may sadly be the last generation of controllers who can support a family without their significant other also working...
