<Also struggling to fathom. Although they were probably thinking election 18 months ago because the board has definitely been split for that long a timeframe. But even if you think the other half of the NEB is capable of such gross ethics, which I don’t, there’s no way the center thing would have stayed a secret for that long.
 
I was moderately skeptical of this whole thing, especially based on the time line.

Now I think it's complete bullshit. Someone explain how 3 RVPs "killed" a motion prior to there being a vote? If this was brought to the NEB as an untimely, it would need a second to get to a vote to be heard. As Mick points out, you would need a 3/4 majority yea vote to then hear the motion.

Edit: And someone smarter than me can see if you even need that 3/4 vote to hear the motion. I don't have a constitution with me, so we may want to double check that point.

In my head, one of two things happened.
1) The was a motion to hear an untimely which would create this workgroup. There was no second to get to a vote to hear the motion. Mick, why didn't you second the motion?????? How about the other RVPs?

2) This was never actually a motion to be considered by the NEB, and Mick/Santa are trying to fabricate something to make their opponent look bad. If they are so outraged by this supposed killing of a workgroup, why wait 18 months to bring it up?

This reaks of bullshit.

Just saw the email for the town hall meeting now. Unfortunate. But Santa confirmed this is in fact all true?

Yeah I don’t know what happened but I can’t imagine it’s the black and white version of the story in the Mick email with clear cut heros and villains.

It was almost 18 months ago, if it happen you know it would have been celebrated as a huge win for the NEB and NATCA as a whole, not just Santa personally.

Plus people have a short memory with politics and union affairs. If they got a raise over a year ago that they were entitled to get years ago anyways, I don’t think it would still translate into huge momentum for Santa almost two years later this summer in the election. Seems nuts that so many NEB members would make a calculated decision to block it over the possibility of a Santa boost that far away.

I'm all for being skeptical, but the fact that Mick and Santa are both saying something similar and it's been 24+ hours with zero pushback by Nick or the NEB members is what makes me think it might be closer to true than to false. Considering it's almost the weekend, if none of them put out a statement today before the weekend then it'd be hard to think it isn't mostly true at that point.

At which point: shit + fan.

You would think fac reps at these 5 facilities might reach out to membership as well? Their phones have to be blowing up. Were all these reps completely in the dark about this all? Too high above them 😂.

Even if you aren’t at these 5, any member should be outraged. When push comes to shove the union doesn’t have your back or your best interests in mind. 5/13 centers to get thousands of dollars. Could be upwards of 500k+ over the course of your career. NAH, this shouldn’t even be voted on, shut it down

NATCA Provided Notice To The Agency Intent To Open Contracts

Brothers and Sisters,

I am writing to inform all of our members that we have provided notice to the agency that NATCA intends to open our Collective Bargaining Agreements. This notification is required in order to proceed with our planned limited opening of the CBA's.

While this message is intended to only keep you updated of our notification, we will be sending out further details of what this will mean for us moving forward. In the meantime, rest assured that we have been working collectively and collaboratively with representatives across our Region to identify the most important items to negotiate on behalf of our membership.

There are some finishing touches that will be wrapped up at the national level in the coming days which will help us plot our course forward regarding the limited articles we intend to negotiate. Once those discussions are completed, we will update you with more on the details.

Remember a few years ago when the convention didn't approve the amendment to require membership notification when they start negotiations? Good on Brad for letting his members know anyway.
 
That’s a fair point, these CWG’s are a big part of the reason it takes a decade to implement a lot of things. The ABACUS talk is close to a decade old. Even the system to replace CRU-ART which you think would be fucking simple has been in the works for over five years and might be canceled now, I haven’t heard a update in at least a year.
