unless you’re getting smoked at a vfr tower or dealing with thunderstorms (or apparently working at dca) this job is a joke where you spend sometimes half your shift on break. The schedule blows no denying that though. I also understand the 4-7s could use a bump. But if you’re at a core 30 or center complaining I don’t know what to tell you.

Often times you speak of people being on break for half their shift. That never happens at my facility. If that’s what y’all are getting, consider yourself blessed and I’m happy for you but don’t dog the rest of us who think we are underpaid.

sometimes cic is combined with other positions in the tower cab like clearance delivery or ground, especially during the off peak hours, but sometimes even when things are ramping up. so the extra staffing would help as an actual set of eyes from the cic but an extra set from whatever person is working the position that would have been combined

Can we please not use teachers as an example? Those of you who don't know, don't know.

Teachers work 60+ hours a week for 40 hours of pay. They don't actually get summers off because they have to go to "professional development" courses etc every summer in order to keep their license. Those courses cost several hundred dollars of their own money. Some school systems pay for those courses some don't.

As someone else stated teachers don't get paid for their summers off. So when a teacher is attending a professional development conference to learn CPR so that they can save your child's life, not only are they not getting paid by the county as a teacher to be there, they are paying out of their own pockets to attend the course. A course that is required by the state to maintain their license as a teacher.

Forgive me for the rant. My wife is a teacher/school counselor. I can't explain the amount of money that is spent just keeping her license current. She has masters in counseling
