Boomers still rambling about Pluto being the 9th planet... sometimes what you learned growing up is different than reality. Sometimes things change over time. And sometime there is more nuance to life than what is taught to young children.
Genders were thought of as binary and immutable for a long time by the western world. That's changing. There are thousands of years of historical precedent for cultures who identify more than two genders. We are living in a time and place where your birth genetalia have less and less to do with your role in society and how the world sees you. You can either adapt, or not, but the world is changing regardless of your opinion.

Nope. There are men and there are women. And then there are a bunch of confused people who believe that subjective feelings somehow change physical truth.

I'll wade into this, but not directly related to what you are asking. Tolerating people and how they live their lives is something I strongly believe in (we can debate what the limit is some other time), what I do not believe in is people telling me I have to accept something because someone else does. Now, I am very well aware of the broad implications of saying this but within context I trust everyone to be adults and understand.
I do not have to accept squat and I choose to tolerate certain things because I believe it to be within the spirit of the constitution and founding of this country, but do not come to me and tell me I have to accept something just because most people accept it and I should as well.

These people are free to do whatever they want. They can dress however they want and request to be called whatever they want. I think you’ll find that this is overwhelmingly the conservative position (I can’t speak for everyone).
But in no way does that mean I must share in their delusion.
Why should I be forced to accept somebody for who they pretend to be when they couldn’t even accept themselves for who they were?
I find it mildly concerning that you interpret somebody simply disagreeing as an attempt to “control people.” I can see how life would be a shitshow with that outlook.

Again, I shall choose to intentionally remain vague but have a spirited discussion, the line is crossed (on both sides) when you tell someone "I am this way and I have a right to influence children." By all means live your life and in a perfect world everyone should be tolerant, but reaching out to kids and intentionally exposing them to a certain life styles is sort of at my limit. By no means am I advocating hatred, bigotry, or any sort of action against such people, but let kids live their life and enjoy their childhood.
When you are a legal adult, more power to on how you want to live your life.

So you agree, per that Carlin quote, that there is a need to "fight discrimination" and that there is a need for a better "method for solving problems that go much deeper than speech" then? And that political correctness is simply the wrong means of fighting those issues?

This wasn't that long ago. Let's try to be nicer to people. Maybe go from "tolerance" to "acceptance". I accept that you see the world a different way than I do. This country was literally founded on independence from religious government.

"Certain life styles" are always exposing themselves to kids. When a teacher says "Last week I was Miss Jones, but now I'm Mrs. Smith" that's exposing kids to a life style. When Mrs. Smith comes to work pregnant that's exposing kids to a life style. When Shrek and Fiona kiss in the movie that's exposing kids to a lifestyle.
You've always been exposing kids to "certain life styles." Now they're seeing that there are other life styles besides the default one. I have no issue with that.
