Hiring Bid FAA-ATO-20-ALLSRCE-65607

So got an email from the testing center, stating that my test got canceled. Called to see if there were any future dates I could schedule. Nope. Asked if there are any testing centers around my state that are open or will open within now - June 14th, Nope.

The testing agent then told me that FAA will supposedly extend the last testing date due to COVID-19, and they would send out emails to people that got their tests cancelled.

Can anyone confirm this?

That's incorrect, they won't extend the testing date. I emailed the FAA department that's associated with the ATSA and they said the following:

"If you are unable to complete the exam during the current testing window, you will be given the opportunity to complete it in the future. Dates for the next testing window have not been established yet but will likely be several months from now. Once the dates are established, you will be notified via email. "

Edit: I suppose they are correct in that they will be emailing people who have not taken the ATSA to retake it.

Oh that sucks.. Thank you

Just checked all surrounding areas around NC (500 mile radius) and there are no testing centers with available dates before the 14th...

Is it worth waiting months(which could possibly be during the next hiring process) OR would it be worth going to MN, which would be an 18 drive?

Thoughts?

I'm going to email them to see if they'll wait for whenever the 2nd testing period closes to make selections and if I can turn in my dd214 and switch to pool 1 since I wasn't even close to separating when the bid originally closed lol. Pretty sure I got at least a WQ on the test

How old are you? You have until 30 to try and apply. At the end of the day its up to you, but its also not the end of the world waiting.

You cannot switch pools or anything in your application after the bid has closed.

24. Just don't want to miss any opportunities.
I get it, but look at it this way. You can spend whatever amount to travel however many hours to take the test before the 14th, which even then we still dont know how the FAA is even going to make a decision this year. They might make everyone wait until more people can test. No one knows. Or you can wait and take the test when they are back up, since you're still active in the bid. The testing window is over on the 14th, with later dates to be announced apparently, not the entire hiring process.

Update for me: My test was not cancelled and I did end up taking it. It went terribly, so I'll see you all next bid, lmao. I took my test in Edina, so I'm here for questions if anyone has them.

For what its worth, I walked out of the testing center saying the same thing, and ended up in the best qualified tier.
That's what everyone keeps telling me. Idk though, I had quite a few collisions in the radar portion. I also know I got some of the visual ones wrong, because I hit the wrong key multiple times. I honestly would be very surprised if I did well, but you're right!

I've taken the ATSA 3 times and those things have happened to me too. I probably had at least 8-10 collisions each time I tested, but still got best qualified. I'm not saying that everyone is going to do great on this test, but no one knows how it's graded and what tests they focus more on.

A theory I have about this is: I wonder if they place you in terminal/enroute depending on how well you score in different portions of the test? For example, I've always done worse in the radar collisions part of the atsa but better on other parts and ended up getting assigned terminal.

I've read that it's always been random, but who knows!

That's actually really good to hear. I feel like a lot of people say they only got one or two collisions, so when I had so many, I thought I was for sure out. I could tell on some of the portions it definitely was about how fast you answered, and not entirely about getting it right. I do know that I did really well on some portions, like the memory stuff. I'll definitely post on here when I know what I got, even if it's only qualified, lol.

What's the best way to prep for the logic questions? I have ATSAprep.com which helped a lot on the other stuff but no XP on the logic side of this test. Going in on the 9th. First time

Had my test yesterday, I am very confident with the first part of the test but in the second part, logical reasoning got me, had no idea how I did in that. overall it wasn't that bad. hoping for BQ!

I felt the same way. I just made sure I finished to not get any extra points off. I had to guess on the last 3 I believe and still got BQ. Good luck!
