Hiring Bid FAA-ATO-19-ALLSRCE-61676

Yup. I figured. Just trying to stay hopeful but at the same time understanding it probably won't go as I want it to pan out.
Hey at least you have an on boarding date. I’ve been awaiting a “class date” since May and now a Fall- Winter onboarding is the best I can look forward to.

Hang in there. I was waiting since April so it's just a matter of time. Bug your POC at the end of this month for an update if you haven't communicated with them recently. It was the only way I got an answer with an FOL soon to follow.

I have been waiting since April as well, what day in April were you cleared and “waiting for a class date”? If you don’t mind me asking

Im not the same person but I was cleared on March 19th and haven’t received a FOL yet. I did see on Reddit that someone who got cleared March 9th (with a different HR POC than me) got a July 27th class date. So hopefully I get a call soon for an early August class date.

I have also emailed my POC on May 26th, June 20th, and July 10th for any updates on my behalf and have not received a single response back. Thank goodness for this site and reddit because I’d be going crazy at this point with the lack of knowledge.

If I hadn’t asked my POC on April 6 what my status was, I probably wouldn’t have been told that I was all cleared - medical and background - on that day. Since then I was waiting a class date and actually, still waiting for one. Just recently, I was given an FOL with only an on-boarding date.

I too have emailed multiple times with no response at all. It’s aggravating I know but I’m seeing we aren’t the only ones.

If you go months without hearing anything and don’t get responses to emails, you can always call Aviation Careers and somebody will answer. I wouldn’t call every week or anything, but checking in and making sure you haven’t been assigned a new rep or something wouldn’t hurt.

Thanks for the heads up. I’ll try to find that number and speak with someone tomorrow. It has been about 3 months now since I’ve heard anything.

FYI, the Academy got rid of in-person Basic classes in the training catalog. Looks like Virtual Basics is only scheduled to start before the end of FY 20.

Terminal AT Basics: FAA Catalog of Training

EnRoute AT Basics: FAA Catalog of Training
13 en route classes over the next 9 months. Not including the ones that just picked up again. That’s a pretty bleak outlook, for people trying to get in from the 2018, 2019, and now the 2020 bid.

I applied for the June 2019 bid, cleared around March 26th of this year. Last month, I asked my POC for an update, and she said I will possibly be offered an August start date - but she doesn't have any authority to August class seats, until the middle of July. So, my fingers are crossed to hear something any day now!

Someone on the ATC subreddit said through the retirement attrition that about 2-3 air traffic controllers are retiring every day. I wonder what that means for us academy people when it comes time to give us a facility. The person said that just about every facility will be impacted by this. I know it may take awhile for air traffic to pick back up to pre-corona days so I’m very curious to see how this plays out if a huge percentage of facilities will be in need of controllers.
