Sick leave letters

We are on mandatory overtime and the FAA wants to lower the staffing level to where we are at now. They can go fuck themselves. Overtime is nice but I can only live for so long and use the money if I have free time... Plus if they lower the staffing level I can't imagine what staffing will be like when we are "understaffed."

It’ll look like where we’re headed within 5–6 years anyway regardless of target numbers

There’s no such thing as mandatory OT fellers… ya just bang in for it or better yet bang in on the other RDO and give yourself that 2 day weekend… there’s no such thing as mandatory OT…. unless it’s a hold over at the end of your shift and they guilt trip ya with some BS

A few years back I was presented a sick leave letter for scheduling 4 doctors appointments within a few months of eachother all on Thursdays. They were all entered and approved weeks prior and I told them exactly what the appointments were for and why it was on Thursdays... the only other time I could have scheduled them were Mondays and that would have messed up the schedule at work even worse making someone move back in the day that would mess up their ability to pick kid up from school. I had well over 200 hours of sick leave so definitely not a turn and burn person. They found another Thursday I called in sick a year prior and put them all together as a "pattern"... I was actually floored at how crazy it was. That sup was a dick and after talking to the useless rep I went right to the ATM and he squashed it without hesitation.

Then there's a guy who's a sup now that used to call off every Sunday/Monday that his football team played on.... never gave him a sick letter, they just promoted him.

Can't get a sick leave letter if you're out on sick leave.

I've heard rumors of our ATM trying to lower our required staffing as well due to constant OT usage.

You bring up guilt tripping but if they tell you you have to stay for 2 end of shift you can't get out of that can you other than trying to say you're sick? I'm not well educated on OT.

You called in ot.
Ot on break 6.5 hours of day.
We need to lower the number
Kinda agree with it. I mean, we have people at my facility who come in on OT and get mad if they arnt running hour breaks. They don’t care if everyone else is running hour on and 30 off but because it’s their day off, they want hours. As if

Why not just file fmla ahead of time? Never questioned or bothered until next year.
how does that make sense?
Because people believe the staffing number per shift is mandatory when the minimum bodies for a shift is for “scheduling” but not if anything changes. Managment for the most part can say nah, we aren’t calling overtime, obviously I’m talking about a body or two, not if the entire shift is sick. There are ways around that also from the union perspective but you can get to that later. But let the manager think that. He is just creating so much work for himself to justify why he no longer needs people and the union does not have to help.

Sorry for bringing this back from the dead but I didn't want to start a new thread.

If I answer the overtime calls and decline repeatedly, do I need to worry about a sick leave letter or any other consequences from management?

Don’t answer the calls
