Hiring Bid Air Traffic Control Specialist - Trainee: FAA-ATO-17-ALLSRCE-53474

Is there some sort of credit check required? It's not that I have bad credit, I just have no credit at all. Will this affect me?
It's a part of the background check. I don't see how not having credit could hurt you. They're looking for financially irresponsible people who could potentially be bribed by "bad guys" to do whatever

Here's a question for any TOL recipient who took the ATSA in the Fall of 2016. What was the longest wait between your "referred" notice and your TOL e-mail?

1/4/17 to 2/14/17 was my wait.

Have we seen anyone that hasn't been referred yet? I feel like everyone has been referred. I thought I bombed the ATSA, but then came the refferal. Anyone else?

POST FROM STUCKMIC:

"This will add some controversy. Just some numbers I got from a facebook page. Do with it what you will...

"Pool 1 Applicants: 2194
Pool 2 Applicants: 9522
Of those (11716 total), 4490 got to take the ATSA, and
2706 Passed the ATSA - 815 CTI, 302 Vets, and 1589 from Pool 2.
452 CTIers scored in the High Band."

Enjoy..."

"C_Ro, I can't confirm their validity. Like I said, it's from a FB page and the poster said it came from the telcon. Do with the numbers what you will."

so at the very least if you're pool 2 you have to hope you outperformed 55% of your cohorts if i recall correctly because of the 10% range thingy between pools, i feel pretty good about my odds i suppose

I am aware of the group and trust the validity of the numbers as all the ones that have been publicly shared to this point are accurate.
What this means for both groups...
302 Vets... high percentage chance you will receive a TOL. 100% chance for the Vets who scored in Band 1 (80+% of Vets scored in Band 1 last AT-SA). With only 452 CTI-ers in the high band, the remaining band 2 Vets will be hired before the band 2 CTI-ers.
452 CTIers who scored in the High Band (Band 1) will get a TOL (if you are a CTI and did not receive a TOL, you did not score in Band 1, retake the AT-SA for the next bid).

Given the FAA intends to hire ~1,400, they have typically had a +/- of 10% in previous panels and they look for natural cut offs. Natural cut offs are all 452 Band 1 CTI's and 302 Vets (754) for Pool 1. It will all depend on how many Band 1 Pool 2 applicants are left. By law if they hire 754 from Band 1, they must hire between 617 (45% Pool 2, 55% Pool 1) and 921 (55% Pool 2, 45% Pool 1) Pool 2 applicants. If the amount of Band 1 Pool 2 applicants are between 617 and 921, I would expect them to hire all of them and call it a day.

Good Luck all. 4 large TOL batches went out last panel, dates were as follows...
1/4/17 - Referred
1/13/17 - 10 Point Vets
2/4/17 - 5 Point Vets
2/14/17 - CTI
2/24/17 - Pool 2

Awesome info and analysis but just a quick question, are you certain that the vets and CTI don't overlap at all? I think there were a lot of vets last year who were also CTI.

So for someone who posted in band 2 pool 2 the chances of them getting past this stage and receiving an offer letter sound slim to none? I see where there is a statistic of how many CTI posted to a higher band, but not general public that posted in a higher band. All a guessing game at this point for us general public folks I assume?

Ceedubya,
The people who get this information from the FAA telecons and post it to these CTI Facebook pages are those who are advocating CTI(pool 1) interests...either they didn't ask what the pool 2 stats were, or they were told and chose not to relay it.

100% certain, no overlap in their figures. If you are claiming Vet preference of any kind, you are labeled as a Vet regardless of other affiliations. Vets>CTI's with the new hiring criteria.

Correct, unless for instance, only 500 Pool 2 applicants scored in the Band 1 criteria (doubtful), then they would have to hire X amount of band 2 Pool 2 applicants to get to a legal % of Pool 1 and Pool 2 applicants. @J-one-s is correct. CTI affiliations are privy to the information before others because for lack of a better term, they have a seat at the table (or in this case, Telcon). Vets and Pool 2 OTS candidates do not have a 'governing' body or oversight committee campaigning for their interests. Also, it's not that they didn't request the Pool 2 information, but the FAA selective on which information comes to light.
