I emailed and called CG with no answer lol, first time that it has happened to me. So they must be really busy. The waiting is brutal because I have the lease I don't want to renew, and I have a promotion available with my current gig. Tough spots but hopefully we are all hanging tough out here.

Anyone with insight: what would you estimate the average age of your basics/academy classes have been? Recently turned 23 and wondering if I'm too young (or you know, just not mature enough in life) to start applying to the next bid. I know everyone's different and the hiring process can drag on for months-years, but just curious about the average starting ages of people for this career.

Ur the perfect age. And it might take you 8 years. Dont give up any opportunities. It look me like 5 years to get hired.

My group is like 25-30 I think

but age is just a number. If you’re on here, you’re already ahead of the curve and it’s not too early. Just take it seriously when you get in and you’ll be fine.

I stayed in some podunk town in NM on my way to OKC and on my way back home I decided to drive all 13 hours straight so that I didn’t have to stay in NM overnight again. Good call.

For what it’s worth I was hired at 20 on my second attempt, my class was between 24-31 other than me, and had mostly had to wait through multiple bids to get in. I definitely don’t regret applying, all you need is to be able to take the academy seriously and you’ll be fine!

Our class ranged from 19-29 and both extremes made it. Enough maturity and discipline to ask questions when you don’t understand something and to work on things you need to get better at is all that matters.
