This is the best explanation thus far.On top of your your degree of mastery in the martial art of ass-kissing, your odds are severely impacted by both the quantity and quality of the donuts you bring during your tour.
These are also still dependent upon how many lambs you sacrificed to the NCEPT gods.
Extremely likely .. as far as checking out that’s up to youThinking about putting paperwork in next ncept for a few different places and considering some tracons. How common is it for someone from a low level tower only to get picked up at a busy tracon? And is checking out even a possibility?
Tell me you’re out of touch with the transfer process without telling me you’re out of touch with the transfer process..Yep, you should totally go to your dream facility unprepared with a decent chance to wash. You will be learning something completely different, talking to more planes in an hour than your current facility talks to in a day. Not to mention, go to an 8/9 tracon or up down, get checked out in a year, transfer a year later, and then checked out at the 12 within 2 years. That’s a 4-5 year process, compared to going to a 12 now and taking 4-5 years training there to maybe make it.

Imagine thinking you have the ability to just hop scotch your ass willingly across this country….I’ll do a year here, jump over there for a couple summers to “ramp up” and then I’ll be ready for my dream facility and they will take me with open arms.Don’t. Go to an up down or low level tracon for a a couple of years, then transfer to the high level tracon. Much better than going to the high level tracon now….
Until you do this get to that mid level facility and end up stuck there for years in training due to training backlogs, and even when you certify the amount of people who recognize the realities of transfers these days doing exactly what you are advising against making it a near impossibility to get out due to your mid level facilities shit staffing. Can't tell whether this is an out of touch post or someone intentionally giving bad advice because they are stuck and salty....Yep, you should totally go to your dream facility unprepared with a decent chance to wash. That's really bad advice. Working in Moses Lake will leave you less prepared to work N90 than you are today, and that's IF you can ever get out.Don’t. Both are very desirable. Big money for no state taxes and warm weather. Thanks for the input everyone. Which tracons are more desirable and which ones would you guys stay away from? Thinking about putting in for I90 or D10
Come on bro, in 2007-2012 they were sending new hires any level right from the start. And there were more OTS hires during that time than anytime since Regan. And you know what? Wash out rates were almost exactly the same as now. It’s terrible advice to tell someone to go to a low level TRACON or up down to get the “experience” needed to make it at the bigs. At best you might have a 2% better chance to check out. At worst you will have a worse chance as you are likely to pick up shit habits and have increased expectations being “experienced”.Don’t.
