Washed prior to obtaining R side.

As the title suggests I’ve washed from my facility, on my first R side.

I’m not sure what I’ll be offered as far as the NEST. If I’m not offered any towers with approach control, would I ever be able to eventually ERR to one? Or would it be near impossible to be picked up by one as an enroute washout.

Appreciate any support, definitely not how I was trying to end my 2018.

I don’t think you will be offered an up/down but I could be wrong.

You will be able to ERR to a radar facility once a CPC.

Sorry about your training.

I assumed they wouldn’t allow it immediately. I do appreciate the response. Thanks again

It used to be an unwritten rule that if you did not have a radar scope at the center you could not go to a up/down, but they made exceptions all the time for level five up downs. That rule is still unwritten but now that the process is so much more formal and streamlined I haven’t seen nearly as many deviations from it. But once you CPC at a tower going to a TRACON, up/down or even another center will be 100% a numbers game with NCEPT. So two days after you certify you can presumably get picked up by any radar facility you wish presuming your facility can release someone and the gaining facility has more vacancies then applicants, you networked there, etc....., this happens all the time.

And don’t let them tell you the tower class at OKC will be pass/fail, they used to do this even after it was arbitrated and confirmed to be pass/pass for people like you, but I think they finally stopped that.

You can get up/downs in the NEST as a center wash with no RSide. There will be a recommendation from the board and ATM.
And you can file an ERR to any facility in the FAA once you certify.

Same situation as you. NEST gave me level 6 and 7 facilities including a couple of level 7 up/ downs but I chose tower only for other reasons. I certified and then ERR'd to a level 12 up/down.

Oh wow, that sounds like a nice change, I have heard that moving between terminal facilities is generally easier than getting out of a center.

This is grossly untrue. The staffing numbers are available on KSN and on this site. It strictly depends on the facility but there's 22ish centers and the top 15 facilities nationally, when you sort by possible losses, is riddled with centers.

Wow I guess I should look more into it then, is there a way to sort facilities by staffing? I’m unfamiliar with what KSN is.

Ask someone to show you where to find the NCEPT website and data. That’s where staffing and everything else is. You will have lots of downtime I’m sure before you go to OKC for the tower class. This will give you lots of opportunity to research options and what would be the best fit.

When I first arrived at my level 7 up down we had a center washout who was in the process of washing out here as well. I don’t think he had an R side.

Interesting. Every first R-Side washout that I knew of at ZMP didn’t get any up/downs on their NEST list, just tower only.

Was this washout originally from Indy Center?

Only 3 level 12 up downs left in the NAS if I'm not mistaken. Philly, Miami, and Charlotte I do believe.
