Hiring Bid FAA-ATO-21-ALLSRCE-73599

Also used ATCPrep, also got BQ. The one thing I'd warn about is over-prepping with the tools available. If you spend too much time using the prep tools you'll notice patterns that won't be the same as the real thing so you don't want to start relying on those patterns as a shortcut.
That’s a good point. would you advise to prepare as soon as the bid closes like KAB did?

I want to mentally prepare myself so I can do as well as possible, of course, but I don’t wanna overdo it.

I probably wouldn't worry about it until they actually let you know you'll be taking the ATSA. You should be as long as you qualify for the position and didn't screw up your application, but I don't think it should take that much prep to get a feel for what the atsa will be like. I don't think you could be over prepared either though. Do whatever is going to make you feel confident going into the atsa.

You also have opportunities to practice each module of the test before you are scored. I think people tend to overlook that.

I haven't used ATCPrep.com, but I've been practicing with JobTestPrep, and it's amazing. I highly recommend it.
Same! I used JobTestPrep for a couple months and got WQ. I am positive that I would have overwhelmed with no real idea of what the test would be like. I was VERY familiar with each section by the time the test came. Nothing was a surprise. The radar part is not exactly the same, but the pace is so high on JobTestPrep that when you get to the test, even with nerves, you’ll be okay.

I would say it’s absolutely essential to use one of these test prep sites.

Good to know! How's the radar different on the actual test? I'll say I've been struggling with being efficient with the fastest setting on the radar sim.

Did you begin prep once you were invited to take the ATSA, or earlier than that?

.

So if I’ve already got a TOL for a prior experience bid and I got flagged on my MMPI and got tier 2’d can I still apply to this bid and get in? I’m guessing I’m in the system already and I won’t get picked up on this bid as well.
I'm in your same situation with Tier 2 MMPI flag (yay long wait) but from last year's OTS bid. You can't be in two bids when you're actively in the hiring process, even if you're waiting awhile for the Tier 2 appointment. Just like how everyone gets their day in court, we will eventually get our turn to complete the entire process.

The one on JobTestPrep has dots numbered 1-9 all on the screen at the same time. Multiple collisions happening, even as they are just entering the screen, making it virtually impossible to react in time. And I don’t think I could do much better than 60% on medium speed, if I’m remembering correctly (that was over a year ago now). So I felt really nervous about the radar portion going into the test. But it seemed to me that the distance between dots was much greater on the test, so you had more time to react or decide which move was the most efficient. And there weren’t as many as 9 dots on the screen at a time, maybe only once or twice toward the end of the section. But one thing that was different was you had to also answer arithmetic problems with very little time at the same time as avoiding collisions. That was a little insane. But I think the more you do the radar on JobTestPrep, the better your reaction time will be.

I was nervous about even applying, so I was a little reluctant to jump in and study for this, so I think I used the test prep for no more than a month and a half before.

Oh, so when you practiced the collisions with JobTestPrep, they didn’t have any math at the time? They certainly do now lol, but I honestly barely answer them unless I’m waiting for new balls to enter the screen.

And as far as my efficiency, well damn, it’s hard AF on the hardest setting, so it’s nice to know the test was a little easier for you. Hope they keep it that way.

The other section that occasionally trips me up a bit is the memory game section, specifically when they give you two equations and one value. Kinda tricky to calculate those in two seconds before they start asking for the answers.

But I can certainly say I feel much more comfortable with the test prep than without.

I applied for last years OTS and got qualified. But I only used ATCprep. I think the radar on there is a little slower than the one on the test, which is probably where I screwed up because I had a lot of collisions and got so many math questions wrong. JobTestPrep is definitely a lot better to practice radar if that’s what your weakness is. It also helps you with the logical reasoning portion as well

Don’t get me started on the logical reasoning questions lol. Nothing logical about them. That’s prob the section I suck at the most, even more so than the radar sim.

I’m not that worried about the radar sim. I think I can hold my own. Not perfect or super efficient removing the balls, but I think I’m decent. The logical ordering questions (like you’re sitting before Bob but after David, and Anna is sitting after Lisa, etc.), I have no answers for that shit haha. ??‍♂️

Haha I know it is the most hated section. Doing LSAT logical reasoning also helps as well, along with the one thru jobtestprep

every time people link the jobtestprep site, it feels like a forced advertisement.
Thats the vibe its seeming to give off.. Im here from the OTS bid from last year. I went in with no prep from any website and got BQ. It's either you have it or you don't. To each their own if you wanna spend money but it's more about being focused and being able to think quickly and logically. There's FAQs out there that explain what to expect on the ATSA and how the different sections work.

atc prep has nothing to help with that. Luckily I've always been pretty good at logic puzzles, but there are TONS of websites with practice problems like this if you need to brush up. Main thing is to take your time reading the question and sort out the relevant info.

This. I prepared for my first time taking the ATSA pretty well. Studied, full night's sleep, breakfast before hand, the whole thing... not qualified. Took it the second time after working an overnight shift, 45 minutes of sleep, no breakfast... best qualified. It's a crapshoot.

Okay I’m glad someone else said that. I normally love those kinds of logic puzzles, but I could NOT figure those things out. And when you throw in a time limit, I tanked. Did my best to give answers on the test, but I’d love to know how I did on each section. I know I aced the memory part, remembering the difference between the two numbers. And the view perspective I know I only got one wrong. Radar I was okay, not perfect and I did as many of the math question during that portion. But dang, I wouldn’t be surprised in the least if I missed out on BQ just because of the logic puzzles. Oh and who knows about the personality section. Yeesh.
