Hardships

Was it even submitted then? Why haven't you spoken with your hardship rep directly?
It was never even submitted. I spoke with the hardship rep this week and he said he had never seen any of my hardship packet and that he would reach out to my local NATCA rep, who then emailed me 10 minutes later saying he would try and submit it “again” to the ATM.

More of a random question here for my own peace of mind. But I was told by my local natca rep that my ATM and the regional hardship guy for NATCA both said my hardship didn’t have enough proof/paperwork and it would be denied. However when reaching out to the regional NATCA rep he had no clue who I was or what my situation was, he was never shown my hardship packet. Wondering if anyone has dealt with this before. My hardship had been in my local office for a month when I found out the regional rep never even saw it.
You local Fac Rep never submitted it to his higher ups because he thinks you’re a scammer and trying to use the hardship process to transfer. He must be a local to that area and fighting to keep the staffing number there as high as possible.

Now that you forced the issue it will at least get looked up by the regional guys, but don’t expect any help or support at the local level getting it approved.

It’s in A99, the local level has to agree it falls within one of the 3 bona fide categories before it ever gets elevated. Otherwise it dies there. They’re required to give an explanation upon denial.

I will say that it is legitimate, I have gone down the proper paths and done everything that was suggested to help my case. Regardless of that I understand plenty will assume it’s a scammy hardship without hearing the whole deal. Im more just looking to see if this is common and something that I should look further into.

It definitely sounds like your rep lied and never submitted it.

I would call your hardship rep and talk with him about it. If you still want to submit it, hand it directly to the ATM yourself.

I’ll give that a shot thank you. I wasn’t sure if it was something I could give to the ATM or if it needed to be given to my union rep first. Thanks!

Tell that to my ATM lol. Mine found numerous places to “treat” my wife. I asked for these places so I could inquire, aka not have to hardship. I was told “no.” I followed up with an email and the one place he called was a 24/7 on-call nurse and not a doctor, physician, specialist, etc. So much for due diligence and taking lengthy doctors’ notes seriously. Gotta love it.

That’s kind of what I was thinking but I want to follow up with the ATM about it. I’d rather not start pointing fingers and pissing too many people off that won’t do me any good.
Randomly blaming and holding them accountable to the CBA are two different things.

I got notes from numerous local doctors for my case as I was instructed to just get one, and I got a similar response.

Also I agree, I do not want to go pointing fingers before I have all of the facts. Things can slip through the cracks and people make mistakes. I just thought it was sus that the regional guy had no clue what my case was when I was told he specifically said no to it. So I’ll reach out to the ATM.

Your local rep isn't the one forwarding the hardship up the chain, it's your ATM. Likely your ATM is doing what mine did and holding it in limbo by not saying approved or denied at the local level. I got in an argument with my ATM about it, it's not their job to play doctor. My ATM felt as though my hardship did not fall into the very broad criteria of what should be considered bona fide. I told her to put her denial on it and move it along the chain rather than it sitting on her desk. Guess what? The region instantly approved my hardship without any extra documentation and my ATM was just a tool. So tell your ATM to either approve/deny it and have your local rep give you the number/email to your NATCA regional hardship person and talk to them. Mine was very helpful.

This is excellent advice. I couldn’t agree more.

wait until you hear I was told by the hardship rep that i wasn't going to get a "higher paycheck" out of this when i had made an additional request to expand the zone i was transferring to after it was deemed bona fide by big FAA

So you’re a NATCA apologist AND a hardship scammer? Or maybe you’re a NATCA apologist so your hardship scam could get approved ….. ?….. or maybe…… your a NATCA apologist in repayment to the hardship getting approved ?

Lucky for you. Mine wants referral denials from every doctor within 50 miles even after the doctor's notes say there is no treatment. lol.
