I’ve heard through the rumor mill that ZMP has the highest rate of lab failures in the NAS for centers? As in people not even making it to the floor.

Outside of maybe ZNY or N90, ZMP definitely has the most lab washouts.

Knew someone at ZMP, interesting center from what I've heard. Huge number of lab washouts, hardass trainers not afraid to wash, and hence a low checkout rate. Airspace looks easy when looking strictly at numbers but has a few really difficult areas. On the other hand, my brother is an airline pilot and says it's hands down the best Z to deal with as a pilot. Could be some correlation there.

ZMP is not bad at all if you know what you’re doing and not an idiot. If they see you got what it takes, they will not wash you. There were a number of people who tried to cheat on airport identifier tests. And those types of people should definitely get the boot.

ZMP can certainly be tough. You need to have a good work ethic and a good attitude. If you work hard and show you are trainable you will have no problem. People here want to get more people through, but they will lose interest really fast if you have a bad attitude and refuse to study.
The people who generally wash in the lab are those who basically refuse to study, or just have a shit attitude. If you come to the lab not knowing your map or not knowing your LOA's you SHOULD fail. The super high lab washout rate for no reason was mostly a pre-covid thing.

Former CPC at ZMP, awesome facility. This was from 2016 to 2018, so things could’ve changed, but it’s what I wish our training program would be here. Clear and defined. Show up, these are when your tests are, this is when you start labs, if you can’t do it, see ya. Not this show up “let me know when you’re ready for a test” crap.
ZMP had a few moments of a 100 plus trainees in the building.. that many people you’re bound for rumors of “high lab washouts” .. with high volume comes more washouts.
It’s a fair facility and awesome are, if you put in the work, the Minnesota nice comes out and they’ll put in the effort to get you through.

Is ZLA really that bad? I get the reputation that ZOA and ZNY have but I always thought ZLA was a semi-desireable facility.
ZLA is a decent facility, they just have shit staffing.
